If you think Richmond will slide, where will it come from?

Collingwood looks the most shakey of last year's eight. If West Coast continue to have problems in their midfield, they can kiss the year goodbye and possibly drop out of the eight as well.

Before anyone flames me, the reasoning for Collingwood is that their forwards will suffer without Tarrant (he was lousy at kicking goals, but stretched opposition's defences) and less playing time for Buckley.

The WC midfield of Judd, Cousins, Kerr and Fletcher is one of the best we have seen. At the moment, Judd is the only stable one onfield and that will impact on the Eagles ability to cover for their backs and forwards.

you can't seriously be writing off west coast. even without a couple of their best midfielders they still easily have the best midfield. guys like hurn and priddis can cover for cousins and fletcher. they are still the flag favourites as far as i am concerned.

i agree with you about the pies, they will struggle this year. someone needs to tell them that they aren't going to finish in the top 4.

surely geelong, port, hawthorn and essendon have more room for improvement than the tigers. a team who suffers three 100 point losses in one year doesn't become a finals contender overnight.

if you stop richo, you stop richmond.

you realize that kingsley and polak each played vfl and wafl football last year. there is a reason that was the case. they can't cut it at afl level.

brown still isn't training fully and he will never be the same player he was. this is unfortunate as he was a joy to watch

a scary thing for richmond supporters would be seeing how easy richo did his hammy. to do that damage so early in the season is a worry

Deledio - hopefully wallace actually plays him in the midfield for once
Tambling - when are you tigers going t realize he is no better than krakouer Polo - a handy tagger, but that's about it
Hughes - won't play too many games this year as kingsley and polak would have gone ahead of him.
Meyer - very much overated, just doesn't seem to do anything special
JON - you and every other richmond supporter knows he is a hack
Schulz - that one game against brisbane is his only claim to fame, with richo in the side he won't get the ball kicked to him
Thursfield - still a long way off playing afl football after his knee op.
Pattison - struggles against the big fellows and should be tried as a KPP before chucking him in the ruck
Howat - i am a fan of howat and he will be a great player for the tigers
Raines - can't see them moving him out of defence
Foley - a good in and under player. a bit too much like k.john and tucky for my liking

should i keep going?????
Go ahead but instead of sticking with the Tigers give the Dons list the once over and rate how you see some of their youngsters, you seem to have rubbished alot of the Tigers, if you do the same for some of the kids the Dons have and not label them all stars then your opinion might hold some weight.

Another little stat - last year Richmond received the LEAST amount of free kicks in the competition.

I'll bite!

Your team was the boringest, most pathetic uninteresting spectacle of all. No wonder the umps never paid frees - they were asleep half the game!!

In all seriousness though, they played that brand of netball footy keepings off garbage. Let me guess, the Tigers were also LAST in hard-ball gets?

If Richo's head hasn't exploded by round 6 through frustration of slow delivery into the forward line, then it might be an ok year.

You gave up pick 8 in a superdraft for a player who has chronically underachieved.
And recieved Polak and Pick 13 in return still kept a pick in the first round and secured 2 KP for the price of dropping down 5 spots and a 3rd Rounder.

:) THIS from a guy who has the words Courtenay Dempsey is a gun!!! attached to every message he posts!!!!

Courtenay who????

What's he done? Or more to the point, who is he?

I would say that he is no better off than Deledio, Tambling, Meyer, Oakley-Nicholls, Polo or anyone else you have listed you arse clown!

The words Courtenay Dempsey is a gun!!! disqualify you from commenting as you clearly have no idea!!!!!

You are probably talking the Bombers chances up of finals when the fact our younsters are far more capable and have shown more than your hacks that no one other than your moronic and senile coach ever talks up!!!

You only lnd good word about Howat as he is your mate!

Courtenay Dempsey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give me a break!!!!!!

I did post "If West Coast continue to have problems in their midfield" when referring to their ability to generate wins. I disagree they are still flag favourites (Sydney for me) with the turmoil they have at the moment. Their midfield was the team and made up for deficiencies in their backs and forwards. Judd is the only stable one of their top four midfielders.

Graham polak is one of the most naturally gifted footballers ive seen. i played in a game when he kicked 15 goals in one half! i was so happy when the dockers picked him up, i thought great, we have a center half foward who can take a mark and kick a goal, and at the end of the superdraft i thought, well we gave up pick one (recieved croad, lost judd ball or hodge, it still makes me want to cry), but we still had pick four and polak will be a great player. i hope richmond supporters are prepared for the whole polak package, because the reason he didnt play for a lot of last year was due to his partying antics, his lack of dedication to training, and the fact that when we did put him up forward his goal kicking percentage was about 20% and when put back, he simply was not performing, he never showed the same commitment to football that he did to his social life. there is every chance he will clean himself up now and be a very good player, but picking him up was a risk, if he doesnt clean up, dont be suprised if he is delisted by 2009

give mean some names and i will rate them without bias
Monfries, Stanton, Dyson, Bradley, Ryder, Dempsay. Those 6 will suffice

Courtenay Dempsey???
Richard Cole??? Gun pick up!
Kepler Bradley??
Andrew Lee??
Jay Nash???
Courtenay Dempsey???
Patrick Ryder???
Henry Slattery??
Jobe Watson???
Courtenay Dempsey???
Ricky Dyson??? (Who I actually do rate but plenty opf others get a game before him)
Jason Laycock??? (Potenatial, but potential only at this stage!)
Courtney Johns???
Courtenay Dempsey???
Jason Winderlich????
Andrew Welsh????
Courtenay Dempsey????

Camporeale, Fletcher, Michael, Hefferann, Peverill, Bolton all past their best.

Hird just secionds away (as always) from another long term injury.

Yep, rosy future at Windy Hill!!!

And did I mention Courtenay Dempsey....GUN!!!!!

I give you Angus Monfries and Brett Stanton as decent youngsters...but they aren't Deledio standard!!!!

you really are stupid.

We swapped pick 8 for pick 12. Lost a third round pick.

Gained Polak and Riewolt. Very happy.

The jury is still out on Polak. To say that he is a bit unbalanced would be under stating things, although, like I said earlier, a move to the East might be just what he needs.

As for Riewoldt, he's only young, and a KPP, so I wouldn't expect anything from him for another couple of years at least. Also, he is listed on the Richmond website at 192cm, and that might be a fraction short for a KPD. Will probably end up playing as a third tall on the HFF.

Courtenay Dempsey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give me a break!!!!!!

so i guess there aren't any richmond youngsters that are your favourites???

i haven't once mentioned essendon's finals chances. i would think we are just as much chance to slide into the 8th position as 4 or 5 teams.

howat is my mate, and i would still rate him as a footballer even if he wasn't. your not his mate and you rate him.

obviously i don't expect dempsey to set the world on fire just yet. he isn't even in our best 22 at the moment.

don't forget our "moronic and senile coach" is the same coach you guys tried to poach of us not too many years ago.

the guy who started this thread ask why people aren't rating richmonf. i gave my opinion and i'm sorry that this seems to be a touchy subject for you. obviously you are a bit nervous about whether or not terry will win his premiership in his "5 year plan"

They've just got noone worth getting excited about....kids look extraordinarily average....lack kpp's...and their entire season revolves around the prayer that richo stays on the paddock.

Pikey picked them for the spoon last night...i'd favour about 12th-14th...they'll need to play out of their skin to retain their coveted ninth spot this yr.

give mean some names and i will rate them without bias

And who would you recruit...Polak or Michael, who was disinterested in football last season (and will be again when the Dons keep losing like the Lions did last year) and barely trained and in to his 30s.

Face facts. The hype around Essendon revolves solely around tour coach talking young players up and Matty Lloyd returning to the form of three years ago!!!! Lloyd goes down again, yu'll be lucky to win three games!

That same should be said about you when we've had more success than your the last forty years.Don't bag my club when just we are trying to rebuild.

funny how u make ur cut off 40 years just so it suits richmonds last decent period. How is winning some flags in the 60's-70's compared to winning in the 50's-60's any more relevant to the modern day success???

rebuilding??

I think we are outside chance of finishing seventh or eighth ... not touchy at all.

Just seems you tend to talk down our young talent when we are way better off than what your club brings to the table, Dempsey included!!

I couldn't see you guys playing finals. You don't have the cattle. Our list is not the greatest, but it is better than yours.

What happened to your honest assessment of your taklent!!

Too embarrassing I'd imagine.

Favourites. Yeah, I like your mate Howat and Meyer. The latter still has some work to do, but can't be dismissed as readily as you do so!

Monfries, Stanton, Dyson, Bradley, Ryder, Dempsay. Those 6 will suffice

here are yours also goldy

monfries - hasn't done too much so far. everybody knows he is corageous but that doesn't alone make you an afl footballer. there is alot of pressue on him to perform this year

stanton- top three in our b&f the past two seasons. runs all day and wins plenty of the ball. hopefully his disposal will improve

dyson - has shown glimpses of form but has struggled for consistency. in the same boat as monfries as it is time to perform

bradley - he is all yours to bag. i couldn't care less what you say about him

ryder- he only turned 19 a week ago and has shown a bit in the praccy games so far. nobody is putting pressue on him yet. it looks like we are going to try him as a CHB before rushing him into the ruck.

dempsey- he has huge potential but has struggled with his disposal a bit. he is actually quite tall and he should put on a bit of weight in the next couple of years. not expecting much out of him this year.

cole - not in our best 28 so he doesnt matter

lee - has been struck down by injuries year in year out. he is a bit of a project player and he will be given time to develop. hard to judge right at the moment

nash- he is rated highly amongst the bomber faithful, i'm not so sure. he has good skills but has never really been fit. he also has a fight on his hands to make it into the team

slats - tough as nails and he is really hard at the ball. he will turn into a very solid footballer. he is in the jared crouch mould

jobe- remarkable improvement last season. great hands but his kicking lets him down.

laycock - agree with what you have said goldy. his anzac day game is in the hearts of all essendon supporters, however we aren't sure if he can produce this form often enough

johns- has shown a bit, but his best is a long way from his worst. he has potential but with lloyd back in the team he may struggle

winders- i would expect him to have a good season this year. i think he will surprise alot of people. he is similiar to cam howat

welshy- agressive but not always damaging with his disposal. he is a bit of a scapegoat. although he is a solid contributor most weeks

fletch will have a great year creating off CHB

Mal michael is still in the top 5 full backs in the league

hirdy is just as much chance of breaking down as richo is

deledio has huge potential, but what has he done. wallace doesn't play him in the midfield. don't forget stanton was runner-up in out B&F in 2005.
