In the wings members

Long time lurker, first time poster. I rang the club today to get some more info on how the upgrade process works as I am number 2300ish on the waitlist (after ten years!). Here's what they said:
  • Public Reserve seating is not on sale tomorrow. This was an error by ticketmaster, they probably became confused because Freo's tickets go on sale then. Ticketmaster have now updated their website to reflect this. They expect the public reserve to go on sale in March, after a number of the ITW members have had offers made. Interestingly, if you purchase public reserve seats through ticketmaster and then sign-up for a membership afterwards they will refund you the full amount, so it is definitely wise to hedge your bets when the tickets go on sale.
  • The offers will start going out mid-late next week (I don't think the lady I spoke to meant to be that specific but she slipped up). This will be done via email. As other posters have said, it will work in batches and is first in, best dressed. My understanding is that they will notify a batch of people a few days before to tell them when the purchase window will open up. At that time, you can log into the system (I assume it is the same one the season members used) and purchase whatever seats are available (with the limit of 2 adult and 2 children per ITW membership). The purchase window will only be open for a limited time to allow them to keep the process moving, so you don't want to miss the email notification. Once a batch is finished they will see what is left and open up another batch, until all are exhausted.
  • Based on the above process, my impression is that the first batch can choose whatever they want, which includes the limited game memberships. It will start to get tight for later batches when there may only be single seats left for full memberships, forcing the decision to sit away from others or bite the bullet and just get a 5 game membership. Unfortunately, at my number in the list I think I might be close to the cusp of full season or limited game membership availability.
Great job! Much more info than anyone else got!

Why should the club close these out? I'm sorry, but as a 20+year member if I decide to move interstate I'm still keeping my membership and doing this. I ain't a moron and gonna jump to the back of the queue.
Makes sense to keep it if you will be back in a year or so but perhaps the club should have a system to manage that. Why should someone permanently leaving Perth be able to give their memberships to friends who then effectively jump the queue in from of 10k ITW members?

I'm not to fussed on that. I' more concerned about the people that but tickets and only go to 1 or 2 matches

Because no system would be able to manage that. You probably could give your seats to the resale for a full year, or alternatively give them to friends or family to use for a while until you’re back. You can only change seats to names of direct family members and you have to prove it.

Get over it sunshine, they’re still that persons tickets.

So are you saying when I can’t go to the football I must do the resale program so in the wings can go? I’d much rather offer them to friends or family.

I'm considering some of their premium hospitality packages.

Are they available for normal ITW plebs like myself?

Hi DS,
I’ve just contacted club about options. Was offered only one: SkyView Deck member - 11 games, 1 hour gourmet cocktail food before game, 4 hours free booze, seat Block 528 west side.
Did I mention the price? $2,700 per year.
There’s a couple of premium seats on another thread here $1,185?
And I’ve seen a few on Gumnuts but not sure how reliable the changeover would be?

Wouldn't want to miss a game with the Skydeck membership would you.

A system where they put you at the top of the ITW list to regain seated membership on your return. Gives others a go. Only talking about people leaving long term or permanently.

Where did I say anything at all about when you can't go to the football? I never mentioned resale either.

1000 seats deemed as restricted viewing so this is part of the reason the Eagles have been delayed in allocating seats .

Confirmed in this article

Be that as it may - still doesn't excuse the membership department for a lack of communication. They have all (?) email addresses and I am sure a couple of interim updates would be appreciated by those in the wings.

Gee they are a complacent bunch aren't they. For a corporate club they don't do membership marketing very well at all unless you are in corporate sponsorship level.

Membership department = take your money and give poor service.

Agree they should have sent out more comms - but the task of moving 40,000 members to a new venue, then sorting out in the wings - plus dealing with the restricted seats they were unaware of - is a once in a generation task. The amount of hours the club would have to put into the process would be huge. It shouldn't be a surprise it's taking this long, and there's been unexpected delays.

The big delay that held everything up was the signing of the stadium contract last year.

Understand the thing about moving members etc.

Bottom line is the apparent lack of communication to those in the wings members is a significant oversight on the part of a multi-million, allegedly professional, organisation. Hell, they could have had a work experience student draft up a weekly communique to ITW members - a lack of communication means questions get asked, faithful members who have been paying membership dues for years (in many cases) are being treated like mushrooms, and apart from the inner circle within the club no-one else is the wiser.

Filling seats is the main game in town for the non-footballing part of the club.

They could offer that but I’d still rather keep my seats

same thing repeated here

* Stadium deal caused delays
* 40K being taken by original members
*10K available for ITW however same allocation process as subi so whatever is available is what you get. nisbett believed not everyone will take up on the offers for a variety of reasons including a large amount of country members. likely 3 to 5 memberships will be more popular
* 13000 in the wings atm
* been a frustrating period
*cant give a figure of which the amount on the waiting list to be successful due to many factors
*started process last week

Anyone listening can they summarize please

Didn't catch it all but he said they expect to seat 10,000 new members, which translates to the kind of figures posted in here (ie. at an average of 2.4 seated members per ITW membership, the cut-off will be around numbers 4000 - 4300).

He said ITW members are being contacted from this week and the club expects prompt replies to facilitate the process.

The podcast of the interview will be posted to the 6PR website https://www.6pr.com.au
