They don't have the same supply constraints. Our stadium is over subscribed, which is why we have a waitlist.Hmm nah. Supply and demand exists at Collingwood too they still pay 200 bucks less then us for the same membership...

So lets take this out of the argument if you wont accept that positionThey don't have the same supply constraints. Our stadium is over subscribed, which is why we have a waitlist.
herein lies the reason why the eagles didn't want too much more that 60k capacity at optus. eagles membership exclusivity. you don't have to have a membership and go see any game at the MCG because its never full. optus on the other hand...I'm less annoyed with the price going up, (that's standard) than i am with the fact it's already randomly more expensive than all the other clubs in the first place.
Eagles game costs waaaaaaaaaaay more than going to any game in Melbourne, or any Cockburn game.
And i fail to see why.
Cockburn memberships are similar to ours....believe it or not.I'm less annoyed with the price going up, (that's standard) than i am with the fact it's already randomly more expensive than all the other clubs in the first place.

not very difficult to go watch a game in their current state, however in the 2015-2019 pandemonium you'd basically have to know someone not going or get lucky on a resale if you weren't a member, would require a bit of internet trawling, e.g. can't just rock up no the day and get a ticket like in melbourne. Why be a member? Can you still get into see a game at the Doughnut without being a member? Or is it cattle class seats remaining? It's a great spectacle, but I don't really enjoy all the advertising, the hordes, noise and American style razz-a-matazz tbh. The action/players is too far away for my liking. I get that you can see all the off the ball action, but contrary to many posters here, I actually prefer the comfort of my lounge room, the close up TV camera work, the commentating and stats on TV...each to their own I guess.
You're right, the atmosphere and expectations at finals would be something else. That would be an experience indeed, let alone a GF.not very difficult to go watch a game in their current state, however in the 2015-2019 pandemonium you'd basically have to know someone not going or get lucky on a resale if you weren't a member, would require a bit of internet trawling, e.g. can't just rock up no the day and get a ticket like in melbourne.
there are 5000 tickets to the 'away team' (depending on the supporter size of the team coming over you might be able to get one of them if you go online when the tickets come out). games like the 2018 prelim vs melbourne were sold out in minutes. Once the eagles are flying again it will be much more difficult
A lot of eagles members just pay their season ticket in full and then don't bother putting their tickets up for resale if they can't go and can't hand them off which is where alot of our 'sold out' 50k attendance are attributed to
but yeah ultimately its about access to the finals tickets when you are finals bound, they are the moments you as a supporter live for

I thought that game day attendance was calculated by numbers through the turnstiles, not tickets sold. Hence why the crowd number is only announced in Q3.not very difficult to go watch a game in their current state, however in the 2015-2019 pandemonium you'd basically have to know someone not going or get lucky on a resale if you weren't a member, would require a bit of internet trawling, e.g. can't just rock up no the day and get a ticket like in melbourne.

yeah you're correct - but thats why we get get 'sellout' games with an attendance of 50k. all the tickets are sold, just 10k didn't bother goingI th

If it was on tickets sold, we'd have almost full capacity every game due to maxed memberships - and that's clearly not the case.
They could make it more flexible though. That pisses me off. Like I know it's mostly decrepit old fossils that don't know how to use the interwebs but still.
I've returned my tickets any time I can't make it, and they've always been snapped up, even during covid, when playing Norf or Gold Coast etc.
Got rid of our 4 memberships after 27 years 4 years ago, sick of the price gouging by the club. They of course never cared, they just say next!
Does anyone here have river view room access and open to possibly catching up before games?
