Incredibly unpopular opinion: I hate the Auskick kids presenting the Premiership medals

I have no issue with the players receiving the medal from the kids, it's a nice little feature and will be something the kids remember for the rest of their life.

But I hate how the hats being handed over to the kids has become part of the whole procession. The moment is about the medal, the thing that the players have strived for their whole careers, not a stupid cheap hat which can be given to the players and kids at any point. Leave it out.

The hats are only there to stop the players from forgetting to acknowledge the kids and causing outrage on Sunrise.

I have no issue with this, these kids look up to many of the players and its the biggest day of their lives. Was a nice touch hearing a couple of the kids saying things to the players. The little lady that presented the medal to Hodgey said something like 'You're a champion' and was super thrilled to get a handshake and a hat from Hodge.

I love it. There's never been a simpler, more effective measure of a person's character. In the matter of seconds I am fully informed if a person is a shit bloke and should be subject to the most abject derision, or if they're a humble champion fully deserving of their premiership medallion.

I must say that all the players passed the test today, with Brad Hill being borderline in that he put on the hat. He did take it off and give it to the kid in the end though, so I'll need more evidence on the matter before I can pass full judgement on his good-bloke-ishness.

Auskick kids are the worst, I would've been pissed if I was one of the Hawks players that didn't get up on to the dias to get my premiership medal because of some stupid kid walking in front of it, it's pretty much what you work your whole life to do, you accomplish it, and some stupid kid ruins it, I'd be salty

Hate it with a passion.
These same kids are those who play the auskick game at half time.
They'll already remember the day as the best day of their life as they ran around on the G infront of 100,000 people.
Why give them more?

I just hate how politically correct this country has become. AFL is too focused on being seen as 'all-inclusive' that it takes away from the moment.

I for one would much rather see the next Crows premiership team receive the medallions from McLeod than 22 different kids who generally manage to **** a few up.
If you were an Auskick kid would you like the chance to present the medals on GF day?

I love it. I love laughing at all the players who stuff up the Handshake - medal - hat combination.

There's always one. I cringed when the kid dropped Bailey's medal as he went for the handshake.

I think the kids should still be allowed to present the medals. I won a competition many years ago to run out onto the ground with the Eagles in a derby. That was one of the best moments in my life, I'll never forget it. I couldn't even imagine how cool it'd be to present a premiership medal to an AFL player on grand final day - I'd be jumping out of my skin as a young fella.

So essentially, what your saying is, the kid would have ruined your ego?

I'd rather improve my skills to the point I can receive the medals on GF day. Prefferably by someone who can listen and abide by instructions.

What would have been really cool yesterday is seeing Hawthorn's legends presenting the medals to the players wearing their numbers out there.

E. G. Matthews to Lewis; Dunstall to Gunston; Tuck to Lake; either Brereton or Scott to Buddy; Mew to Roughy and so on.

Just about every club embraces their past very well - this would be another way of doing it.

kids hand out the medals to the players at the end?

well i'll be, next year i'm gonna make it a first to not pass out before 3 qtr time and make sure I watch that.
