First match of the series was won by India. 2nd ODI starting in a few minutes time. Expecting a strong New Zealand side to bounce back. Hopefully the kiwis thoroughly expose Rayudu and get him out of our plans for the world cup XI.

Other news: Kohli is rested for the last 2 ODIs and the T20 leg of the tour considering his work load, ahead of the world cup. This means the young 19 year old Gill might get a place in the last 2 ODIs in the middle order. Hardik Pandya who was indefinitely suspended along with KL Rahul, makes a return to the squad after his suspension was lifted.

Under par total put up by the middle order. Should have got 340+ from the start they had.

Not sure when we're going to get rid of Rayudud.

Dhoni’s stumping of Taylor was incredible. Never mind that he’s in pretty good form with the bat anyway plus his experience but his keeping alone puts him ahead of other candidates for the WC.

Shubman Gill is getting pretty big wraps so keen to see him play in the last two games.

Otherwise the WC team is starting to take shape.

320 is not under par.

Yeah but against a kiwi batting line up that was in red hot form before this series, in a very small ground and the pitch was basically a road, 320 was probably par. Kohli too said the same that it was just about par on that ground.

The Champions trophy final flogging we got at the hands of Pakistan was the best thing that happened to us because we jettisoned Ashwin and Jadeja after that series. They had been failing for long before that tournament and finger spinners became a bit redundant after 2015 or so because of the general flatness of the wickets in ODIs across the world. But we couldn't drop Ashwin and Jadeja because of their reputation and it was hurting us.

Thankfully the champions trophy loss proved to be good in the long run and it paved the way for the entry of Kuldeep and Chahal who are probably the two best spinners in the game (along with Rashid Khan). With Bhuvi, Bumrah, Kuldeep and Chahal, that attack would tie down most batting line ups in the world to par totals. When you count the top 3 of India, you have anywhere between 6-7 match winners in the team. Whether India goes on to win the world cup or not depends on how much the remaining 3-4 (MS, Rayudu, et al) stink the shop up.

Munro kind of sucks. Not gonna lie.

Why are there no Tests on this tour? It's been five years since India played any in New Zealand, and it would make a really cracking contest.

Because they avoid playing the top nations in test matches like a rash. Would spoil their over inflated test ranking.

They’ve played 1 away series in 2.5 years and it was 2 months ago in the UAE.

Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa, West Indies, England and Sri Lanka, all at home since they played India away in mid 2016.

The best way to improve your ranking? Only play home test matches. Because most teams are getting thumped away from home at the moment.

Even then, they only tend to play 2 match series against teams like England.

India seem to be making alot of home teams look like utter shit right now. They just blew NZ away for 243 and are 61/1 after 13. Looks like another series win to them
