Nope. It’s money and greed. India worrying about their businesses that IPL is the priority. No wonder.
BCCI try to influence every ICC decision. Continue to get tests, that and England. Yet in that time, both are overrated and horrible at tests.

No one apart from India themselves care about IPL. The players just want to get the cash and run.
No one is in charge of the game anymore - it’s purely about $$

The standard of batting is declining world wide no need to shorten Tests (those that get played anyway) most unlikely to last 4 days

Who comes out for Kane when the Kiwis play the poms.

Latham is captain
Will young got player of the series
Ravindra and Mitchell are linchpins in the middle

Phillips gives you a spinning all rounder option at 7.

Leaves Blundell whose keeps or Conway.

23-13 since (and including) that 36 all out game.
Won a series in Australia in that time, drawn series in each of SA and England in that time and made both WTC finals.

‘Horrible at tests’ is probably something of an exaggeration.

Australia is 22-8. So for context Australia was 22-8, and a few weeks ago India was 23-10.

If you limit that to bi-lateral matches in that period, Australia were 21-8, India 23-8. (Australia won the WTC once, India lost it twice).

So while this series was absolutely disastrous and right at this minute India are in an absolutely dire spot with what they need to do next, their last five years has not been horrible, or if it has, then it’s been a horrible that is as good as or better than every other side in the same period.

if it was Conway, then Young opens and Kane bats 3?

Phatboy should have been offered a staff role at cricinfo a loooong time ago

I'd actually read it then.

The point about Australian curators having more independence is interesting through I think they are influenced by CA's desire for 5 days of television product.

lol you and about 3 others maybe… cheers though mate :)

Agreed, to the credit of the Australian players and coaches I don’t think I can ever recall them being in consultation with anyone about what they want: though I don’t think they’ve ever really needed anything other than what they really get anyway. The only team the conditions overall ever ‘suit’ in the last quarter century as much as they’ve suited Australia has been SA and those years when they’ve won here I don’t think there’s been anything Australia could have really done to turn things in their favour. You could maybe argue that getting a flatter pitch in Hobart the year Philander went nuts down there would have helped.

The WACA not being in the rotation anymore has not helped as it was a pitch that could often be unpredictable and crack though it started to get more homogenised by the end and that’s probably for the reasons you’re suggesting - longer matches and more ratings.
