It's not that, teams just prefer to put most of the atttention to Pendlebury because he will kill you with his possessions.
And of course Swan was totally inneffectual yesterday?

If the silk sheathed scalpel doesn't getchya the velvet sledgehammer will.

Nobody but a blind idiot would claim Swan has the highest skillset in the world or even on a par with the elite mids, but he is an elite athelete and proved it yesterday.

You may not like his style or his rough and ready attitude to getting the job done but he's supremely effective at what he does - putting his body on the line and running his guts out for his team ALL DAY.

No he's not. Swan was allowed to run free yesterday without an opponent while Ablett performs at that level nearly every week with a heavy tag, just look at his game against Essendon with Hocking hanging off him.

I said he's up there with him, not better than him, settle down. Ablett is number one for me.

But Swan is there my friend. His skill is that of an elite mid, yes pendles might be silky smooth, but I'm talking the complete package here.

For example, what, in skill, does Judd do better than Swan?
Does he mark better, is he stronger, does he run harder, does he kick better, does he handball better, does he break tags better, is he better one on one, is he a better goal kicker, what exactly other than bursting out of a pack, which btw swan can do?
Thats why I think people jump off him too quick, they forget he can do all those things, better than most mids in the comp.

He has lots of tattoos and plays for Pies so we don't like him.

For a start judd can get a kick in grand finals

Hopefully a forward can shut up this midfield stats fest going on here.

Foot note: I freaking hate how 1 kick can turn into

1 kick
1 inside 50
1 score assist
1 hardball get
1 effective possession

Dude, it's still 1 kick!

I've watched every game this season and these 3 games stand out for me.

1. Ablett vs Essendon

2. Swan vs Essendon

3. Ablett vs St Kilda

4. Pendelbury vs Hawthorn

All on losing sides.....

Surely in a season where most weeks there are huge possession counts for most teams, willing your team over the line has to have some weight...?

Often a player can look better than they played by virtue of standing up and playing well when his team-mates were average.

Swan yesterday was pretty epic. AND his team won

I have watched every Collingwood game this season, one of them on my phone in the corner of a nightclub, and Dane Swan's game yesterday was easily the best in the league for 2012.

Swan killed the Bombers yesterday with his possessions, stop embarrassing yourself.

Some would say its much harder to go against the tide as Ablett did, Swan was outstanding but he did have help.
I'd call it a draw.

Swan yesterday and Ablett against St Kilda in particular were operating on some other plane of existence. Ablett had more party tricks though, so I'll go with him if we're talking about a performance in isolation with little to no assistance whatsoever.
