Injury Injuries 2013 : The state of No Play...

Damn on McPharlin. Thought we might get away with a minor tear, 2-4 weeks. Looked like it was low down on the calf too which is worse place from my totally unprofessional understanding. Means it will likely be a longer than shorter recovery.

It's not just his physical presence will miss as much as his ability to organise the backline. With Duffield out for at least next week as well, that's a fair bit of our backline management missing. Not a good thing at all. :(

Mchpharlin out for five-six weeks. ******* hell

In hindsight with Riewoldt out, Luke shoud've been rested. (Emotion doing the talking)
I realise this is tongue in cheek but Ross noted the same thing during his 6PR interview. To be honest I think this wouldn't have been on the cards anyway - Luke had already been out with his suspension and a bye, it's not like we've played 15 straight games and a breather would have been desirable, he ought to be fairly fresh.

**** this sucks.

We literally haven't had our 3 best players on the field for a full game the whole year, I hope Luke's injury will have a similar effect to pav and Sandi's injury - in that we play with manic frenzy!

The next four weeks of footy are huge danger games, let's just hope we get through safely.

bummer about mcpharlin, but probably the best time of year for it to happen with easier opponents and the buffer of games from finals. hopefully we get him back for port. i'd still like to see faulks in, especially against the talls of richmond.

Sandi and Pav in McPharlin out. When was the last time we were lucky with injury?

Hopefully yesterday taught everybody to take no team too easy. Would have as as favourites for all remaining games, still most could be considered danger games...

Yeah agree, one last hurrah for Faulks. Deserves a game based on form and (from all reports) application on the training track. Smith is injured (I think) which has got to improve his chances.

Even more to test our depth the foul Footy gods have Tanner Smith injured in the WAFL. Hopefully it's not bad.

I'm starting to think we might need Essendon to get stripped of points in order to make the top 4. While it is still very much possible to beat all of WC, Carlton and Richmond without McPharlin, I feel like we are going to drop some games in the next month.

We seem to have had quite a lot of soft tissue injuries. I know from talking to people involved at WC, that the medical staff is held 100% responsible for hamstring, calf, quad, etc. injuries. Somebody probably won't be getting a Christmas bonus this year.

unfotunately, if you are relying on 31 year olds, this tends to happen, which is why we needed contingencies a couple of years ago for this.

Alas, Maybe only two positives are:
  • Hell Be primed for finals
  • Get a solid look at Faulks and Silvagni (in position)

I personally think Faulks should get the look, he has had very solid wafl form for a couple of years. We know what we get with silvagni, which is not much, although he has had a couple of standout games against quality opponents

Ross Lyon has anointed Silvagni in his post match radio interview.

Overall I agree that the timing was about as good as it was going to get, at least we've a lot of talent returning and he'll have every chance of a few games before the finals but Derby, Richmond, Adelaide, Carlton are huge games.

Richmond still improving and the other 3 all fighting for their last chance at making the 8. We'll win enough of the last 4 to comfortably make the 8 so imo it's these next 4 games, top 4 or not.

Like everyone's said I expect to see Silvagni out there on Sunday but hope Faulks gets a look in as well, at least one of them will probably be delisted at the end of the year with Faulks the most likely and I reckon he's had a long enough stretch of good wafl form to deserve one last chance to show what he's got.

It's a important game given west coast must win. Silvangi is best fit with experience. Probably a safe pick rather then uncertainty in faulks. Probably get a chance in the run home against weaker opposition

Thankfully we've got a great defensive side and a great defensive coach, we're not going to fall to pieces with macca gone.

Worst case scenario the opposition will kick a few more goals than usual, we have to counter that with a few extra goals each game of our own.

This means we need solid form from our recently returned forwards!

I think thats the beauty of our structures, we don't rely on one guy. We play team defense.
