Injury Report - Season 2023

We’re going to have to play Ryan & Miller in ruck/forward rotation. Perhaps when one is resting on the bench we go with a smaller forward combination. Not having Tarrant means Balta and Young will have a good run at it too. Funny how we were all wondering how our younger/depth players could break into the team preseason. Well, we have our answer!

Seems like our midfield is the only area with real depth now. I think we’ll adapt our game plan and become more unpredictable. Instead of destroying our season, these injuries could completely turn our season around!

I reckon we getting the delayed reaction of the manic style gameplan that has finally taken its toll. We are like nadal coping the injuries while retirement village geelong is like federer cos they never played with the same manic until recently

How does trading away two years of picks now look?

Tell me this … season 2025-2028 how does our midfield look without TT, Hopper, Prestia, Martin or Cotchin?

Sonsie (looks the goods but as yet unproven)
Graham (average)
Dow (unproven)
Ross (average)
Bolton (gun but not a pure mid)
* 2-3 x midfield draftees

So we’d be praying our midfield draftees were all guns or we’d be absolutely screwed for an eternity.

nope. hate excuses. saints injuries are same/worst than ours with their gun forward and skipper missing chunks as
well as 4 or 5 handy types as well. sitting 4/0 - 160+ %.

The funny thing is if we’d had Saints draw we’d be 4-0 as well (3-1 at very worst)

Freo in Melbourne
Dogs (when they were playing like busteds)
Bombers (we beat them for fun)
GC in Melbourne

After Round 6 we will have played 4 of the probable top-6 plus Dogs and Crows away…. could all easily finish top-8.

It’s a very tough start so no matter what happens we are not out of it. There’s 23-games this year also which is handy.

Besides Lynch the rest of the injury list is being massively overblown. Nank has been hobbling all year. Short/Broad/Graham will all be back within 3 weeks. Tarrant is old and will likely retire end of year. Ryan/Miller can both play ruck and we have our core midfield group still.

Media love the doomsday approach. Swans are without their 2 key backs this week.

Injuries were our worst case scenario.

But we do have a lot of youth that needs games. So even though not having a first round pick hurts.
Blooding some untried youngsters will still be exciting.

Seriously upset that this is what happens the season before our older players retire. Cursed with injuries making this season incredibly hard. Maybe what happens when we went so hard for 4 years I guess. Mainly just mad about the Lynch injury. Had such a good year last year, now he’ll probably be worse for the rest of his career, and he’s probably our most important player

Yea naaa , the three injured senior players in lynch nank and jack G have been regulars in the medical room on an annual basis I think they’ve all had a history , the injuries to our younger players are bloody unlucky , broken ankles and arms and nasty hammy for gibbo

Early prognosis

It was another horror weekend on the injury front for the Tigers, with three key players going down plus another four in the VFL. Lynch and Nankervis will be out for some time after undergoing surgery, while fellow talls Tarrant, Bradtke and Nyuon were injured in the VFL. Tarrant's hip problem will see him out of action indefinitely, with the club holding out some hope he'll return later in the year. Short is still a week away with his calf. - Martin Smith

Short likely to return for Anzac Day Eve
