Injury Report - Season 2023

Graham has to come back via the VFL. He had a limited preseason and it showed when he pulled a hammy. Graham only knows one way, flat out running, but until he is match fit with a few weeks under him he is an average player for one, and imagine if he did another soft tissue injury. When fit and busting his gut he is a good player, until then he needs a week at least in the VFL.
He's unavailable anyway.

Fingers crossed on Gibcus
That hamstring has been ongoing. I think he ripped it off the bone, then got an infection after the op.

Just hoping like hell it’ll be a full recovery , in particular his vertical leap and athleticism
It is very concerning for Josh

I actually wouldnt mind the club writing off his season and just getting him right with no games this year unless they are 100% confident in his recovery
certainly wouldnt be playing him in any matches until after the bye

Easier to fit a half fit guy into our AFL side than our gun Veef team at present. ;)

Early prognosis

Sheed is expected to return from a throat injury this week after specialist advice and a period of non-contact training. Yeo has increased his workload with straight line running, while Shuey has started on-field running and felt comfortable. Chesser has made good recent progress and is doing football work ahead of a possible return in round nine, alongside Hough and potentially Edwards. – Nathan Schmook

Does anyone have any idea about Gibcus's status injury wise? Is it 1-3 weeks away from playing? Is he back to full running/ full training? The medical reports are so vague and no detail whatsoever. We rarely get an explanation on injuries blowing out from 1 week then next week says 2-4 weeks. Would be good to see Gibcus getting games while we're crap will be a good learning for him.

What the hell is going on with Brown - it was meant to be a simple operation to fix the wrist? Did someone chop it off by mistake and they needed to reattach it?

Lynch and Nank may as well rehab until preseason now given our season is done.

In: Prestia, Dow, Bauer
Out: Ross, Sonsie, Miller

Cotchin to be the sub.

Now it’s season over the thing that irks me most on the injury list is seeing the kids on it. Gibcus, Campbell, Brown and smith I rate very highly. Even if it’s just in the 2’s I wanna see them play and develop.

I hope Sonsie doesn’t get dropped.

I would be extremely surprised to see him before the bye

Can i ask you why Ross ??

17 disposals in just 76% time on ground
7 kicks 10 hand balls at 88% DE
3 tackles
4 marks
8 contested possessions
3 intercepts

What exactly didnt you like about his game

The only reason and i mean ONLY reason
Sonsie , Clarke , Cumberland should be played this week is because its an easy kill and they need confidence

None of them deserve to play this week based on their last weeks game

Yeah but I hate it when a player gets dropped for one or two bad games. It works when you’re competing for a flag. When you’re not, which we are not, give the players you rate an extended run.

I’d be shocked if the brains trust at the club think we’re a chance of making the 8.

This old school way of thought is why AFL clubs end up at the bottom for 10 plus years. You cannot expect young players to perform every single week. It’s really only the AFL industry that has this train of thought that after a bad game you should be sent to the abyss for a few weeks. Drop players who are consistently bad but give players ESPECIALLY young players a chance to have a good run at it. Sonsie in and out, Ross in and out does not help their development. I seriously wonder how many players careers have been destroyed by this primitive train of thought in the AFL industry.

Soldo's now back out with yet another injury. Can the club please concede they were lazy c@nts in appointing Meehan, admit failure and search for a replacement now. Adelaide have world renowned in high demand Darren Burgess. And we have the guy that used to hold our other guys clipboard. RFC really cast the net far and wide and landed a WHALE of the fitness industry. FFS's they didn't even interview anyone they just promoted piss boy. Now piss him off and spend some resources on quality instead of shopping at NQR!!!!!!!

Playing Soldo last week was the Match Committee’s decision and not Luke Meehan’s.

Meehan would have given the run down and the risk of re-injury to the Match Committee, but ultimately they make the call.

Dimma said as much in his pressure pre-Gold Coast that they new Soldo was underdone.

Can’t blame Meehan for the decision. Whether he was as forceful or not we will likely never know.

Meehan’s done an okay job for mine. Especially for the first year of having the job. Guys like Burgess (who for memory has seen a lot of teams burnt out at the end of seasons) who has decades of experience didn’t start as the best in the field from the start.

We give players and coaches time to develop, but no one else?
