Awkward moment when there will be more 'gold coasters' in the port side than Suns this weekend.

Renouf a born and bred local from Southport/Surfers Demons, with Pfeiffer also spending some time with Southport Sharks after his Blues delisting (top 5 in league b&f Grogan medal).

Darren Stewart played at Labrador before heading to North Adelaide (he got 2nd in QAFL Rising star also)

Suns will have Thompson from Southport, and possibly Wilkinson from Broadbeach.

Good luck guys, was a Port member and Supporter as soon as I was able to pay for it many moons ago. I always swore to myself if Gold Coast were ever given a licence I would jump and support the local team. So I have a massive soft spot and pains me to see the shape that it has been in recent times.

Early call and not certain it's the right call BUT unchanged line up is my guess for this week.

Me, well if Matty drills it into the players to get the ball in long and quick against GC I'd be considering stretching their defense with Schulz, Butch and D Stewart!

Many have expressed this view, but it's worth repeating - Dom needs to be dropped. Sadly, I can't see that happening while he's captain. I guess we"ll need to wait until next year.

Nonetheless, I think that Primus is showing signs he's not completely happy with Dom's form. Of late, he seems to be spending more time in defence. Perhaps Primus thinks he'll cause less damage there than in the midfield. I don't think that plan is working out.

Can anyone recall a captain being dropped?

There was one at Geelong from memory...

Only one I can remember is Threadgold from Sturt getting dropped for the 2002 GF that they won.

I agree that Dom deserves to be dropped on his performances to date, but they wont do it. He may get a "general soreness" week or two off at some point but I cant see him running aroudn in the SANFL

That Darren Stewart! Not sure he'll play.

Who do think will play on Gregory Ablett?

BOOOOOO!!!! That's not allowed

Hi buddy... I reckon hartlett should stay saved by his last quarter...but boak for shizzle...

How good is big Matty T?:D:thumbsu: it's no wonder our better games this season he has been in theteam

Yeah its true, the guy is a real leader. If he can play that HFF role well he may just keep his spot forever.

How low are we setting the bar these days?

We got smashed out of the middle all day and everyone came alive and was running riot across half forward among North's cardboard cutouts in that last quarter.

If we can rebound like that and encounter no resistance between wing and half-forward every week then McCarthy, Westhoff and Pfeiffer are all guaranteed Life Memberships let alone Thomas.

I can think about and offer comments to this terrific forum...which seems to have a few seriously astute observers of our club and it's team performances.

So as the fog of that (incredible) win starts to lift, we all know one game does not make a season and although very pleased with a come from behind win against the Roos..and gaining some much needed confidence in the short term, let's not be blinded to the facts there are still major issues with our team! Whereby, they should not have been in that situation in the first place, especially on their home deck! We have learnt a lot about the boys in the last few games and there are still glaringly obvious and unresolved problems which I think are easy to fix, to improve this side going forward. The first is the captaincy... Stand Dom down now! Never was or will be captain material...maybe on paper but never on field...who has ever heard of a ship without a rudder winning a race!? PAFC must make a statement.. drop him out altogether and get him to relinquish the captaincy to Ebert in a major announcement before the Gold Coast game...this is a non negotiable issue, as Dom is never going to improve and he will keep dragging the team down even further than he already has! His replacement would be Moore, a better player allround and he has only played a handful of games! As for Boak.. I have never seen his value, his disposal is woeful; with or without any pressure! He is either injured, which I doubt or he is sadly out of form since the start of the season or he has his mind on other things and is subconciously trying to preserve himself. I know a lot of supporters think the sunshine out of his arse...but they would be looking at him through teal coloured glasses and if you take those glasses off, you would see an average, slow, uninterested, fumbling errant exuse for a footballer. He might one day measure up to other gun mids in the comp...I fear not in a port jumper, before that happens. Replace him with Young this week and let him off his leash he is the future in our midfield and will play very well against the GC. As for our ruckman Renouff...the guy is a powderpuff and will not give much more than he is at the moment..which is not much at all. Take a chance Port, play Redden a future star and will eventually take us on the road to our next premership! As for our big bodied backman...OMG...you can't be serious...cut your losses now and get Carlisle out of there immeadiatley, honestly who has heard of a Mac Truck not leaving a little road kill carnage along it's way! Replace him with D Stewart for a quick fix or even try Webb back there...would not be any less effective than Bobby with greater options! Make these changes against GC and we win by more than 10 goals, and if they don't we will find ourselves battling to have a narrow win or loss!

I find it funny how Matt Thomas gets 16 disposals this week playing pretty much unopposed on the HFF and he's a legend who should never be dropped again, whereas Travis Boak gets 16 disposals this week while under a hard tag and after collecting over 100 disposals in his last 4 games of football and he's an overrated spud who should be dropped and traded.

Uh-huh.

I think it is because we expect more from out best player (arguable I know).

Thomas played his role quite well especially in that last quarter and did help us win.

Boak is down on form but is still no where near being dropped

....and how many of those disposals under pressure or not ..were effective ie..attacking, penetrating and creative or actually directly contributed to shameful turnovers and stopped ports momentum and resulted in opposition goals? Have you got numbers for that?
