He has a pep in his step with his press conferences compared to 2020-2021.
Clear corporate messaging strategy and some media coaching.
But some interesting comments such unity and spirits are high. (Still the subtle excused line - we hav COVID we have injuries, we have kids but thats not an excuse??).) This is at odds with the derby performance. I am left wondering is this us what the US used to call soda fountain morality. The team are safe, well cared for and very happy together. But what is missing is the non superficial deap commitment to each other and a collective fighting spirit.

When we endured the wooden spoon with a list that wasn't great, every game was faught out to the end and often we only fell behind in the second half of the last quarter. It was a different spirit.

Crazy subtle excuses.

So subtle ... They're not even there :straining:

By constantly mentioning the issue (bad lick but we dot use it as an excuse) they are reinfirced within the mid mindset. The evidence is in the teams performance.
Bit like you being constantly told directly or indirectly thsi exam is very tough an you have missed all the work, and you dont have a chance but thats ok we understand. Of course it not an excuse?? Its a cheap our for a person whith out the inate desire to compete and win. Liam its ok to give away a cheap 50 we know you are frustrated. And it goes on.
We try hard but with our bad liuck it is ok if we doint win. Give up a 4 goal lead to GC at our home, butchered a loss to North and saved the buss bair for the Derby.

Oh I must have missed the bit where Simmo said that.

Collingwood vs. West Coast (Marvel) 4:35pm Fox Footy

If the West Coast Eagles season was a racehorse, the screen would have been rolled out long ago.

Frankly, it seems cruel just to let it go on.

Analysing their team is pretty much impossible. Their line-up is about as stable as a Central American democracy.

Watching what’s happened to the Eagles is terrible, I’m sure like all of you, I’m thinking, why couldn’t this happen to Collingwood?

In fairness, they do lose Taylor Adams to covid, but playing the Eagles, I’m not sure you even need to replace him.

Collingwood learnt an important lesson against Geelong last week, Australian Rules Football consists of four quarters.

It’s a big oversight to get that wrong.

Even most Pies supporters can count that high.

Pies to win.

According to Useless AFL Stats, the most consecutive games by a West Coast player is currently held by ... Luke Foley.

With 6 games

He and Petch were the only players to play Rd 23 last year and the first two games of this year.

Unsurprisingly, he's also lost 100% of games in his record-breaking streak.

Actually, that should be "surprisingly" because no excuses.

Played in wins in his first four games, then has lost his last six.

AFL is a roller coaster.
