I don't know anything about American constitutional law, and it seems way out there that the Supreme Court could rule that a president has immunity from prosecution for official acts, despite there being nothing in the constitution that says so.

Wouldn't the solution simply be to create a new amendment to explicitly state that a president does not have immunity from prosecution?

It would never be ratified. You need a two-thirds majority in both houses and 3/4 of the states to agree.

He appointed 3 of those judges that voted it in too.

Good question Tucker.

Maybe it's the fact my kids went to school without the fear of being shot. Or the fact that should anyone in my family get really sick, the life saving prescriptions they need will be heavily subsidised by my government. Or the fact no one checked my bank account before admitting me to hospital for emergency treatment after that cycling accident. Or the fact my political leaders aren't given legal immunity from prosecution for their crimes.

Why the feck are you here btw?

Macron took a massive chance that the French parliamentary two round system voting would cut back the right wing parties current popularity after the Euro parliament elections last month, saw the far right wing parties win many seats for the first time.

Euro parliament elections in France are proportional representation whereas Presidential and Parliament elections are two round system, ie if a person doesn't get 50% of the vote + 1, then a second round of elections will occur for the Presidential vote or the individual seat.

There are 577 seats and only 76 seats had a majority result after last Sunday's vote. You can only run for the 2nd round if you get 12.5% of the vote.

Just over 200 centralist and left wing candidates who are eligible to run for second round, have pulled out to try and stop right wing candidates running.

Macron's party was a minority government in parliament, it looks like the number of seats his party will get will reduce, there probably wont be a majority party, but the right wing party will be the biggest, and get their man up as the new president, Macron is President until 2027, so there probably will be a stalemate for the next 12 months and probably until his term ends.

Making people go to the polls 3 times in a month or so doesn't engender much love for Macron and his early election call more than likely back fires. Just what the world needs, another major democracy in turmoil

First video is a good summary of how the French system works.

Second video is discussion of last Sunday's results. I saw this and a lot longer discussion Monday on France 24 English on SBS.

Saw this story on Germany's DW on Monday night for the German take on French vote.

So it comes out that trampf is a literal pedophile and still no one cares.

What the **** is going on
This is the Jokers thesis in The Dark Knight playing out IRL

Bus load of soliders blows up = totally expected

Assassinate the city mayor = totally unexpected

The Don rapes a 12 year old that bares a striking similarity to his daughter on Epstein Island = totally expected.

Hey, unlike Kennedy assassination and 9/11 theories, there's a lot of phony stuff in the Epstein files.
