The French may be about to find out why the Brits voted to leave the EU.

A couple of weeks back the EU imposed a tariff on Chinese electric vehicles. The Chinese retaliated by imposing tariffs on a number of EU commodities including brandy. As an excuse the Chinese claim that the EU is dumping cheap brandy in their market, that is remarkably similar to the Australian wine situation. The problem for France is 99% of the EU's brandy exports to China come from France.

Brussels makes a decision and the French economy suffers. There is strength in numbers but sometimes it is better to control your own destiny.

Divide and conquer, hey? Oldest trick in the book.

Putin has taken another lesson out of Stalin’s book.
In the 1930’s Stalin replaced the Ukrainians who died from starvation (Holodomor) with russians.

Anyway, why would Putin need to replace the population with russians when he is “protecting” russian speakers in Ukraine. Because it’s a part of russian history, replace the existing population with russians. Examples include Crimea and Kaliningrad (1946).

I wish the Australian media would leave the US Presidential Election alone. Seven ran wall to wall coverage this morning and all they did was highlight Trump's failings and tell us the event was 'too close to call'. The US Presidential election is getting more coverage than the Australian Federal election.

Apparently there have been bomb threats at several US polling stations. The FBI has traced the threats back to Russia. I agree that Trump is a sore loser but the threat of a rigged election is real. I would not put it past Trump to call in a favor or two from his mates in Russia.

The Russian Government financially supports hackers then denies all knowledge when they are found out. Apparently this was the deal in the recent elections in Georgia.
