I normally watch a lot of us political commentators on YouTube..from both sides. But its reached such a low level of discourse now that it barely resembles a political discussion.

two things I have learned from watching the commentary. Firstly, MAGA do not seem to understand that they are only preaching to MAGA, Secondly MAGA are not interested in facts, they just want to control the narrative.

It is a colossal waist of time bringing facts to a debate with MAGA. MAGA know their own narratives are bullshit, but currently through social media they are allowed to get away with it. Joe Rogan summed it up best 'I so badly wanted it to be true' when fact checked after election on stuff he said prior to the election.

The only way MAGA will find out is when the facts come home to roost and they always do. Its a great laugh when you can hide behind an election result but nothing lasts forever.

Apparently it was a big issue for enough people to choose not to vote, or gamble Trump wasnt the big bad man he was made out to be as they voted against their own self interest. Pretty staggering and stupid approach to voting and the clown show that is USA politics, I will argue gets the president they deserve. Sometimes people need a wake up call and well the USA are in the **** around and find out stage.

We can probably expect a recession with Republicans in charge - it has happened when Reagan, George H Bush, George W Bush and Donald Trump last time when they were all in power.

Recessions never happened under Clinton, Obama and Biden leadership. The last Democrat to have a recession was Carter in 1980 (and probably assisted in him losing the 1980 Presidential Election).

The facts speak for themselves.

Got a link to the report with official stats with a breakdown by religion?

Pearson appears to have a record of being a radical right racist... but I think you already knew that... which is why you quoted him in support.

I believe it's an estimate / extrapolation based on known cases. Which may or may not be vavalid
Well before making a claim like this in parliament, wouldn't it make sense to ensure it is factual.

He has a record of being islamaphobic...

Prefer we discuss factual information, rather than being sensationalist to suit an agenda.

Just did a quick google search, nearly 70,000 rapes were reported to police in the UK from 1 July 2023 to 30th June 2024. Based on the statistic provided the 250,000 breaks down to 10,000 rapes per year. So 1 in 7 rapes are committed by Muslim men.

Any rape is 1 too many so this in no way is condoning it, it merely puts the figures into some form of context. But gee the bigger question is why didnt he walk into parliament saying for the last 25 years 6 out of every 7 rapes have been perpetrated by white men totalling 1,500,000 reported cases of rape. Race had nothing to do with it though.

He did qualify it in his speech (video in the second tweet in that thread), but yes, I agree it's a pretty heroic assumption.

But also let's note that it was a fear of being "Islamophobic" that led to this going on for so long.

What's being going on for so long?

Do you have a religion breakdown of rape rates?

It's a huge problem in society, but outside the Catholic & Anglican priests, I haven't seen it's a bigger issue depending on religious beliefs.

Those who have got away with repeat offending for years tend to be people in positions of power.

My guess is its an insinuation of culture within a community. There are some cultures in the world (including some religions) that treat women as 2nd class citizens. They are there to breed and please the man. It is very common in a lot of African communities and even in some places like India and Asia, women are not treated well.

Wait until the Christian Nationalists get full control in the US

I think you should look further into what this issue is, and the enormity of what has been happening.

Feel free to provide me a breakdown by religion then.

I'm well aware rape is a serious problem, but if you are going to specifically call out a particular religious group, then back it up some facts rather making an opinion piece.

Without actual facts, it's just hatred against a particular religion.

Tanita should stick to singing, something she was reasonably decent at a long time ago.
She only had 1 hit though.

Whereas Trump has hit on many women... ;)

Rape is evil and cruel and destroys lives no matter who it is committed by.
It should always be condemned.

Trump, next POTUS, is a rapist but no outrage by MAGA, just celebration that he won’t face consequences.

Rape by all cultures should be condemned but as usual MAGA and Trump sympathisers are only outraged when it is immigrants, not when it is whites or pastors or other church leaders or members.

This proves that it is the colour of people that offends them, not the actual raping, and not any concern for the women.
