Went this morning. Off the top of my head:
- Langford was great. Unlike last year, has the strength now to break tackles and keep his hands free in congestion. Would have been one of the leading disposal getters.
- Zerrett very good, Heppell and Jobe both good when they were out there
- You'll be shocked to know that Laverde did his best work when given a chance in the middle. We would be crazy to pigeonhole him as a forward imo.
- Josh Green was actually quite good. I still don't think he should be in the round 1 side, but he created a few chances, took his own, and used the ball pretty well when he got it. Fanta, Walla and him would have had atleast 11 shots between them.
- Begley didn't do a heap as he played mostly as a deeper forward, but when he got the ball he was really good. Really excited about him.
- Stewart was very underwhelming.
- McGrath quiet, but good with ball when he had it. Defensive work was ok without being great.
- Marty was quite good, as well as Mckenna
Agree on Laverde. He looked quite natural out there playing as a big body mid.
Stood up in tackles, kept the arms free, generally helped keeping the ball alive.
May not have looked great at it last year, but given the interruption he had with the shoulder injury, plus not having the likes of Heppell, Myers, Watson out there, i think he and Langford are going to be pretty good through there.

I dont mind the idea of Green starting Rd.1. Esp against a questionable Hawks backline.
Green, Fanta, Tippa applying some pressure should set up a good chance of a win

So went along today:

McGrath - didn't get a lot of it but showed some promising signs when he did.

Bellchambers didn't play - big bloke from Albury played wearing no.2 who looked a VFL standard player.

Parish - quiet early but had a decent second half.

Watson - did enough.

Stanton - pretty reasonable off half back.

Daniher - played the first half before running laps with Hurley. Looked awesome and exceeded my expectations given his limited preseason.

Zerrett - a class above. May have gone to another level again.

Gleeson - excellent off half back. 2nd best behind Zerrett.

Goddard - did enough.

Francis - pretty quiet prior to injury.

Zaharakis - looked good.

Baguley - did enough.

Fantasia - did enough.

Ridley - quiet but looked OK.

Green - ordinary for mine although he got a bit of the ball. His skills, reaction time and decision making are sub par.

Begley - quiet will need a year to work on his fitness/tank I'd think.

Stewart - average didn't do a lot against average opponent.

Hurley - didn't play. Kicked the ball pre match and ran some laps with Daniher at half time so his ankle can't be too bad.

Mutch (19) - taller than I thought and looked quite comfortable out there and played well. Looked fairly composed for a draftee and could be the surprise packet.

Jerrett - did some nice things off half back. Enough to warrant selection v pies next week I'd think.

Heppell - very quiet. Perhaps still getting his head around captaincy announcement he didn't get near it a lot.

Leuenberger - dominated ruck and pretty decent around ground.

Myers - did enough with some booming punts.

Bird - ordinary bordering on shite.

Morgan - didn't play. Did some work on other ground.

Hooker - didn't play, didn't do much out there at all.

Redman - pretty quiet.

Brown - didn't play did some work on other ground.

Ambrose - full back did enough.

Langford - very impressive in midfield. Might take hockings spot.

Colyer - looked very sharp.

Laverde - very quiet.

Long - did some nice things and looked pretty good.

Eades - unsighted. Didn't play.

Hartley - didn't play.

Clarke - quiet as you'd expect but didn't do much wrong.

Draper - didn't play - did some work on other ground.

Hocking - average but did enough.

Howlett - got a bit of it so did OK.

McNiece - didn't play - did some work on other oval.

Tippa - looked dangerous as small forward. Missed a few shots. Could easily have kicked 4-5 goals if he'd kicked straight. If he straightens up his kicking for goal we could have a very dangerous small forward.

McKernan - smashed in ruck by Leuey as expected but pretty good around ground. Looks a better option than Stewart at this point.

McKenna - OK but needs to do more.

Kelly - did enough. Was just going through the motions for a scratch match.

Dea - OK but probably needs to do more to guarantee selection as competition for small and medium defenders roles is hot.

Langford - very impressive in midfield

I never expected Langford to come on like he has. His break out game was that Carlton game. His first half was great and doesn't seem to have looked back ever since. My choice for our most improved player in 2017

Saw him come out of the same screening as me the other night at the cinema, looked enormous.

So, how do you rate 50 Shades Darker?

So the above seem to have been the standouts. I'm hoping/presuming that many of the others had self-preservation in mind.

I was wondering who number 2 was. I from albury area do you know his name.

Taking much of anything away from that seems pretty foolish, I mean it was cool to watch but they played 3 "competitive" quarters in a weird mix of teams with a 5 goal wind to one side that allowed Colyer to bang a tumble punt on his left from 70.
But he still banged a tumble punt on his left from 70 and you can never take that away from him. Never

would have been nice if the commentators had actually commentated i.e. "this is Ridley with the ball across half back"

I could only identify the odd player given the distance of the cameras, plus new players etc.

Dodo actually did that early on which was great i then kept a close eye on #14 and he surprised me greatly. Hes alot quicker than i thought.

Sounded like Dodo was the lease keen on him compared to Merv and another name he mentioned he said wouldve cut his head off if they didnt take him.
