Jobe looks super fit. Everyone looks like they have put on a bit of size.

Daniher impressed me in the first part. Only done bits and pieces, but was enough to provide me with enough hope he can kick 45-60 goals.

I thought Green was quite good. Was very impressed with Long, Colyer, Walla, Langford, and Gleeson. Most of the returning players were either cruising (Heppell, Watson, Stanton) or a bit rusty (Hocking, Howlett, Myers).

We are going to have some depth this season for sure!

Good standard for an intra-club game - An observation is that players are too often going lateral when within 70 metres of goal - Should be able to hit up straighter targets in the forward 50 - Like the look of Mutch and Redman.

Was pretty good. Lively. Got caught a couple of times but was comfortably in the better half of players on the ground for mine.

Dodo actually did that early on which was great i then kept a close eye on #14 and he surprised me greatly. Hes alot quicker than i thought.

Sounded like Dodo was the lease keen on him compared to Merv and another name he mentioned he said wouldve cut his head off if they didnt take him.
who is 14?

Who said Green was terrible?

To the extent that so many posters noticed him I suspect it is because that is what they wanted to see. I don't know why you'd mention Green over Fantasia or Tippa who look to have formed a pretty decent chemistry and who were better.

Green was solid enough, though, and if he is in the running for round 1 his claim to a spot in the side will not have gotten any worse. There were maybe 10 standouts and 10 guys who were busy without being standouts (and who did their chances no harm). The rest of the group was either quiet or being managed. I'd say Green was in the second lot of 10.

Think green was pretty good. Hard to see him getting a game ahead of Colyer, Fanta and Tippa as the mosquito fleet. I think hes backup for one of them or if Tippas required to give us drive off half back.

Looks good in the number 15 keeps reminding me of Zorko.

Id have Green in the team round 1 at this stage. Can mark on the lead, can push up the field and is an absolute dead eye.

Id personally like Colyer further up the field on a wing.

I agree, I don't see Green being our number 1 small forward but he doesn't need to be, that is between Walla and Fanta with Colyer coming off the wing, so if Green can be a solid contributor with maybe 2 to 4 goals a game then that will be a positive to the forward line and will add to the pressure on opposition defenders.

"2 to 4 goals a game"- setting those expectations low ;).

Betts is an anomaly. Beyond him, even the very best smalls in the league only average ~2 goals a game. Hoping for anything beyond that from Green is just fanciful.

Which is why I'm saying over the course of the season, if a small forward is too kick 30 to 40 goals then they will have a few games where they might kick 3 or 4

I do not like the sound of this.

That's what we've been doing for 10 years. I know it's an intraclub and defenders have to practice their games too. But surely it's a time when you can be extra attacking and just have a crack at getting it to the forwards quickly.

How many forwards full stop average that? Big, small or otherwise.

Josh Kennedy, maybe Buddy Franklin and maybe Roughie, 40-80 goals a season has always been the mark of success for a forward, with only a few players regularly exceeding 80 goals a season with the 1980/1990s being the highpoint for dominate forwards.
