Thanks for all the reports, much appreciated :thumbsu:

Good to read that the often forgotten man of the 08 draft in JJ sounds like he is progressing well. Hopefully we'll end up having 4 quality players from that draft.

Smith will make Five. JoJo looks like the more sure thing at this stage. But im skeptical about reading to much into some performances the Royals had as many "Invites" as actual Westcoast players. The format im sure is not that great for a kid whos's looking at getting into the groove and play a certain role.

Guess we have to agree to agree then eh? :)

He's a pure ruckman, much like Polly and Stephen Michael.

Best in the contest, if they continue to trial him as a forward or see him as a forward option somone needs to work with him to time his leads and show him where to run otherwise he'll be more harm than good resting forward.

Agreed with the last part of the statement, but I think he'll be left to just run amok in the F50, putting on defensive pressure etc. From the training drills I've watched him doing, Worsfold is trying to hone those combative, in close skills.

5 if Smith comes along as well.

Random question: who was the ruckman wearing 20 for the white side? Thought it looked a little like Spaanderman but he wasn't listed as playing.

yah spaandaman i think. few wafl players were good. wolf, gartlett and krakeur

Definitely NOT Spaanders.

I thought it was Scott Douglas http://www.w*************.au/players/player.php?playerID=7561

i was at the game also sitting on the northern wing. My thoughts.

Shuey: Like all other posters, he was something else, something special. Can't wait to see him fully fit. In that form he will play 22 games and be one of the better midfielders. Oozed class around the stoppages and disposal both feet was lovely.

Kerr: Quiet at the start but exploded in the second and the third. Ran hard and some of his handballs out of the pack was freakish. He has some vision, i counted three times where he handpassed over his shoulder releasing a team mate into space.

Masten: Ran hard and his link up handball and disposal was excellent. He is going to have a massive year! He was on the end of alot of the white scoring opportunities.

Naita: Monstered the ruck. Tapwork was excellent. As other posted have said, doesn't run into good spots to receive the footy. Needs to develop his outside game.

Hurn: Solid as always. He is getting better and is only 22

Bones: On fire in the first quarter. Great run and disposal was top notch. Great kick in the first quarter that hit his team mate lace out from 50. Took a really strong mark too. Could be back in the 22.

JoJo: Really liked his game. Great coming out the backline. Used the ball well and made good decisions.

Lynch: Don't know where he was playing but all of his possessions I saw were in the centre of the ground delivering inside 50. Also, has he lost weight? He looked slimmer.

Rosa: Got the ball yes, but did absolutely nothing with hit. Still the helicopters inside 50 straight to opposition. Got caught holding the ball, he lacks vision. Doesn't deserve a spot in the 22.

Nicoski: Was attrocious. There is absolutely no chance of him playing in the forward line with his goal kicking, absolutely below par. He makes bad decisions and missed a lot of chances. Will be delisted at the end of the year after playing the whole season in the WAFL. No doubt.

Ebert: I didn't see much of him from where I was but I saw some of his kicks and I wasn't impressed.

Who was the guy with the long hair? He looked alright.

I was right at the spot where selwood got hit. Number 7 in the royals jumped for the mark and kneed A Selwood in the head. Was down for a while and bleeding noticeably.

That was all.

Did Garlett and Wolfy do anyhing useful?

Wolfenden had an impressive last period, linking up well on the southern wing and providing some good run with a polished finish in front of goal.

Not enough to warrant anything other than a pat on the back.

Fairly standard Wolfy game.

Garlett did a couple of nice things. He's needs an extended run in the league side to further develop.

Yep, Garlett has a lot of promise IMO, just needs TOG. Now with Riggio and Roach at Swans, not sure he's going to get it?

Shuey looked like Judd on one occasion when he took the ball out of the pack, broke a tackle and ran away.

I hadn't really seen anything of him until tonight but it's true that he's a rare talent. You can see he plays well inside, he has a good kick, great pace and clean hands. Could well end up our best player :thumbsu:

I also think Naitanui is coming along nicely. He's pretty much as raw as he was last year but now his kicking action is a lot smoother. Loved it when he followed up a tap and got a clearence.

...There's nothing else to add really.

EDIT: For the record, I still want Wolfenden rookie listed.

Was he number 32 for the royals?

Will Sullivan took a mark and gave him a hostpital handpass straight into a big tackle. Was not happy!

Ah I remember that. It was Schofield that got him, yes?

Great tackle
