Ah yeh. I guess as a whole line it makes more sense but the way it's broken up, it just didn't click.

They absolutely should have, and it definitely does sound better how you’ve put it. When we hear it 23 more times this year, we’ll probably get used to their way though.

I noticed it post match and liked it as well. Echoes of Aus cricket side a little with 'Under the Southern Cross' maybe?..
'Sprig of kangaroo paw', our state's floral emblem, might not sound too good....
But ' West Coast Eagles, you f+++++ beauty'..after winning..that gets the juices flowing a little for me.
Would love to hear that it was a player driven thing,rather than marketing

From the club website:

After chatting to our players during the off-season, they asked us to breathe some new life into the song.

In short, they felt it didn’t run long enough and was over just as they were building some momentum.

For that reason, we added a verse – or a chant – to the beginning of the original club song.

Prefer they all chanted the intro as one instead of the back and forth. The lines not chanted by the group get lost in the noise.

If they wanted a longer song then why didnt they just adopt the "For years they took the best of us" etc from the existing song?

Dunno how I feel about it. I dont like messing with tradition.
