Should the afl enter an irish team in the AFL which could be based in Ireland to give them a chance of winning some games. The Western Bulldogs and Melbourne could merge to become the Melbourne Bulldogs as I do like thoses teams because they are unpopular and and have bad cultures. You would play these games when the home team has had more that 7 days break and when both teams would be awake so to minimise the jet lag factor. If the Irish team made the finals they could be based in Melbourne so they would be fresh and so they could have a good chance of doing well.

What other factors would have to be considered? Maybe things like player payments, the draft, recruiting irish players who would be good enough and whether Australians would be prepared to play for Ireland.

west coast can't win in melbourne no1 will ever have a chance of beating them in ireland and they will never beat anyone in Aus. what a stupid f***#$% idea....!!!

Mate, I'd love an ounce of what you're smoking. You've gotta be on drugs.

Wow, this is your 2nd stupid thread today. I've not even been known to pull off that!!!

jesus... u are being serious.

Have you invented some travel machine that we don't know of as yet? I can see it now.... leave Perth friday night.... land in Ireland after a 28 hour flight early Sunday morning.... stretch the deep vein thrombosis in the legs.... play a game a few hours later in minus 10 degrees.... then hop back on a plane that night for another 30 hours.... get back to Perth about Monday night... and sleep for the next 4 days straight for the next game on Saturday.

maybe away teams may not have much chance of winning but you could make it easier with two australian teams going over to play game so that it would be on equal terms and one of the teams could stay a week and have a reasonable chance of beating the irish the next week.

I have a better idea... If you really want an Irish team.. then base them in Melbourne... not like there isnt enough Irish people in Australia to support them.

Though the Japanese team idea was a great one well done tt. Less travel involved.

The travelling time could be cut down with new jets that could travel from Australia to Ireland in about two hours. This technology is available to make planes that could go that fast. It wouldn't be that big a deal for Australian teams as they would probably only play on game there each year.

what's wrong with my thread and my posts. My idea would be interesting if it could work and what is it about travelling long distances that where's people out? I believe It could work in the fairly distant future.

Why doesn't think from my point of view and look for possible ways to make things like this happen instead of writing it off as stupid. Any idiot can do that

Well why doesnt the AFL get one of the shuttles and fly to the moon and play there as well.

Give me a valid reason why this is impossible even in the fairly distant future only then can this thread be justly called stupid and pointless.
