Is Andrew Lovett worth a late 1st rounder?

How's the Seaby trade working out for you?

Hypocrite.
Er, what do you mean?

When did I say that I thought Seaby would fetch something awesome?

No need to resort to name-calling just because you didn't get what you wanted.

The charge of hypocrisy is made too often on BigFooty, mostly without basis.

his turning 26 soon only played 60-70 odd games ... his a 2nd round pick at best!! ... i hope geelong try get picks and hopefully keep prismal ... much more to offer in future!! IMO

You're unwilling to engage the topic.

I wonder why.

You'd prefer to laugh incoherently at nothing and then rely on the mods to stand up for you.

Poor effort.
I dont need to engage in the topic why? well because you seem to percieve that every Essendon supporter thinks that Andy is worth a first round pick, well your WRONG

So, do any Bombers fans still think they'll get a first-rounder for Lovett?

Or do we just chalk this one up as another instance of biased, clueless supporters getting it wrong?

How's the 2 first rounders for Kerr going

Hows the lack of first round selections for Mcintosh and O'keefe going?

Your stupidity knows no bounds. :thumbsu:

Sorry, I though we were generalising all supporters with the same tag. You know, like you did.

Er, he re-signed.

Not sure if you missed that one.

My stupidity?

What have I said that has been proven wrong? Maybe you should try to make a point before back-sliding into "you're stupid".

Draft picks are of increased value this year.

Was that totally unforeseeable? Wasn't that always going to be the case?

Plenty of Bomber fans overlooked something that actually seemed fairly obvious and insisted Lovett would fetch a first-rounder. They were wrong.

Now that they have dangled Lovett out for trade all week, will they go ahead and deal with Geelong? They can hardly keep him now can they?

Will be an interesting last hour of trading...

Knights is very keen on trading him but has stated if we can't get the right deal we would keep him, it could go both ways, he turns around and works his arse off and becomes the player we love to watch, or, he stuffs up plays out he remainding year with Bendigo and plays SANFL next year.

Agree though, the last hour will get very interesting.

Er, he re-signed.

Not sure if you missed that one.

Yes, he did.

Maybe because he wasn't going to get anywhere near what he's worth or what your perceived worth of him was.

Lovett is worth a pick between 12-20 this year, last year and any year. If clubs aren't willing to pay then they only have themselves to blame.

Ditto with the likes of Mcintosh and O'keefe. Mcintosh is easily a top 10 pick yet no wants to pay. O'keefe is in the 8-16 range.

And I'm not sure if you realise but there's still one more day of trading so you should probably stop boasting and wait till 2pm tomorrow. ;)

West Coast wanted to keep Kerr all along.

It was a matter of hammering out terms acceptable to both parties.

Lovett is worth whatever clubs are willing to pay. And that is less than a first-rounder.

Nothing can be worth more than any buyer is willing to offer. That makes no sense.

These guys are worth whatever other clubs are willing to offer in return.

If they can't fetch a top 10 pick, then they're not worth a top 10 pick.

The way you talk about players having a fixed or intrinsic worth suggests to me you don't really understand the concepts you're trying to discuss.

And I'm not sure if you realise but there's still one more day of trading so you should probably stop boasting and wait till 2pm tomorrow. ;)
I'll take the risk.

1. Draft picks are not worth the same year to year.

2. You are yet another example of BF supporters grossly overrating their own players. The guy has played only a small handful of good games in four years, and has serious disciplinary and off-field issues. Since when is his value even in the same postcode as O'Keefe's?

3. The first rule of markets: something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Therefore, by definition, if no club is willing to pay a pick between 12-20, then he's not worth a pick between 12-20. Simple as that.

What do you reckon Seaby is worth Gunnar?
He's worth whatever another club is prepared to offer in return.

I'd like to see us package him with pick 36 and see what kind of upgraded pick we can get.

Whether there's a club willing to cough up a pick that satisfies WC remains to be seen.

You're forgetting the rule of suckers...implemented successfully by Port Adelaide (Pick 14 for Nathan Lonie), Richmond (Pick 19 for Jordan McMahon), Essendon (Pick 23 for Richard Cole), North Melbourne (Pick 18 for Jon Hay), Fremantle (too many trades to mention) and I'm sure there were many other examples. Were any of them worth what these clubs were willing to pay?
