Is Garlett as good as Yarran's left boot?

TheGeneral has issued the following commandment...

Why would you even bother to compare Yarran and Garlett?
Garlett isn't as talented as Yarran's wrong foot.
Garlett's kicks lack Yarran's penetration over distance and a body that will fill out.

Thought it a bit harsh and would def say once players are in the club its game on in terms of ability and playing for Carlton. Garlett def got off to a better start in year 1...and we all know Yarran is going to come good in the next 2-3 years.

Is it fair to say Garlett is not even as good as Yarran's left boot or has theGeneral stuck a Richmond boot in his mouth.

Garlett had an outstanding first year, and at their stages in development, I have him in the 22 before Yarran. Hopefully this year is a better year for Yarran....

Most sensible posters will sit this out, and point to "we haven't seen enough of Yarran to know"......hence no-one has voted.

No.

Garlett's field kicking in his first half dozen games was embarrassing. It got better through the year. His goal kicking was good, from 25m out, but seems to have less penetration than Fisher.

Yarran later in the year (once his family issues had settled down) showed, particularly with the Ants that he has all the tricks.......and that kick on the run vs Bombers that hit the post........magic......almost.

Training would give another strong indication........and the reports are Yarran looks to be one of the best skilled players in our side.

My gut says Yarran > Garlett, but the answer is we just don't know.

please refrain from ever starting a thread again, i can understand a thread which might lack depth or subtance but to start one discussing something someonelse said which was probalby sent in the moment is utter stupidty and shows immaturity beyond belief.

and yarrans left foot would problaby be better in the fututre than garlett , yarran is a star in the making when he can get his mindset right, once he has that his natural ablity will just follow, then we can sit back and watch some of his freakish things for a decade.

I will try and be as diplomatic as i can BG2011 but starting threads because you dont like someones opinion on a certain matter is not on, let alone one of OUR own better posters.

Absolutely not trying to garner support Chism but def trying to illustrate that despite the TheGeneral being a required Carlton forum bouncer, he does post a lot of utter tripe without thinking.

And dont worry about TheGeneral, this hardened warrior wont even have had time to stop and read this post, he is on our frontline posting well 'stuff'.

Garlett is performing better than Yarran at this stage. You would hope they both manage to switch it on in the next 2 years and start pressuring Betts for his spot, because I can't see Yarran making it into our midfield in the next 5 years.
