That’s a good question, now that his role has changed the answer is probably a different one.

West Coast best players that are currently playing not including NicNat
Shuey, Kennedy, McGovern, Gaff, Darling, Yeo.
He’s exceeded my expectations with minimal ball use this season.
Think he’s been invaluable
people here last year was the ones that was cooked, GAZ is the GOAT and his ok games are still better than other peoples good games. Whenever he has a set shot or taking a running shot at goal it is going in, what a beast

Last year he was cooked, this year he is not. Things change, but the perception last year was correct.
Yeah, did seem a bit cooked last year but this year looks in good nick.
Think he finally embraced spending more time forward and accepted it fully. Great running goal against Hawks off the pack. That is what you expect from an Ablett.

He is still paying well and adapting to his new role, but just needs that little extra time and space to be able to execute his (normally excellent) kicking skills.
Not as valuable in the contest as he once was, because as you say, gets tackled more easily
i remember that one. was a tough shot under pressure and just missed, was one of the rare few he missed. look at his stats last year, it was better than most of the comp. should appreciate your champions. sure he wasnt as good as his prime but still good, thats why people here are saying that, but to say he should be shun to retirement last year was just stupid. not a true cats fan if you think what you do about gaz
I love watching Ablett play but he's already had a game this year where he kicked 0.3

Can you bring up the stats for Boomer Harvey in his last season or 2? Whenever I saw NM play with Boomer there, he still seemed to have it.
I LOVE GAJ, can not emphasise that enough, BUT at this time last year, Menzel was also starring.
It's a very long season, and GAJ needs to be managed well. He is certainly not cooked, but is very cookable.
Im speaking in general when he has shots for goals youd trust him over most other players

That's fair, but as a Tigers fan, it'd be worth your while checking out the multiple Senior highlights package videos. He loved playing against Tigers at the G- 14 goals one game, 1989, May 27th, off the wing!!
Once you've feasted on that, I doubt that you could have any other player in history ahead of him.

You lucky to have missed seeing what his Dad used to do to your Tigers in the mid 80's and early 90's. He basically assaulted your club on the field most matches. Gaz Junior pretty gun player but never has had the same appeal to get me to a game to see as a neutral. But the apple does not fall far from the tree and son got much of the talent gene passed on. Not as spectacular as his Dad but probably more consistent.
Jezza has Gaz senior covered. Could take just as many high flying marks and freak skills with ball at ground level. Pity most of it before my time and in black and white grainy footage. Captain-coached a premiership team as a veteran too and played forwards and back at different times in his career. Did not even grow up with the game but adjusted to be most talented player there was or ever likely to be.

Jezza was brilliant, but GAJ was the TOTAL PACKAGE.
Check out those videos, any position, ruck contests, HBF, Wing, FF, HFF.
I was lucky to see both.
Jezza is not mentioned by neutrals in the same breath as GAS, Carey, Lethal, GAJ, but not far behind.
I've seen them mate. I loved watching Gaz, I just happen to think Jezza better and jealous was before my time and less videos to enjoy his work.
Gaz was wing, half forward and full forward. Jezza was half forward, full forward, centre, half back and last line of defence as captain-coach of a premiership team. Done it all!!!! and quite clearly more of a team player than individual player within a team that we all know Gaz was. Jezza 10 goals or more in a state game v SA. Gaz about 7 or 8 his best in a state game. Over 100 goals at full forward like Gaz. Got him covered mate, just less videos to enjoy how good he was.

But GAS was simply a more complete and better player.
What Jezza did infrequently, GAS did nearly weekly.
Anyway.. each to their own.
