Rory Lobb leaving was an underrated blow to their structure, too. One of the best contested marks in the league, and could genuinely ruck too. Much better and more effective as the 2nd ruck than Adam Tomlinson (last year) and Jeremy Finlayson (this year).

That's their prime group (ages 25-29, born 1991-1995).

You'd expect better (given the draft picks they had), and more balance. To get three genuine stars (Coniglio, Whitfield, and Kelly) from 10 top-5 picks in 2011, 2012, and 2013 is a pretty measly return IMO. Obviously there's a number of stars there, but not the death line-up that people touted years ago.

There is also a heap of young talent 22 or under all these guys picked inside 30

A loss to Richmond next week would mean GWS are sitting outside the top 12 with a record of 3 wins and 5 losses in this short season. That's obviously not ideal going into the halfway point of the season and would essentially mean the Giants need to go on a run of 4-5 wins in a row to jump into the top 8 before the season is over. Can they do it?

10 teams the Giants still need to play - Richmond, West Coast, Essendon, St Kilda, Fremantle, Carlton, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.

He's never been elite and is always more chance to miss games than play a full season.

I think they should try to get a long term solution and they have a couple of home grown options in the wings, but otherwise I'd be adding a Pittonet type 23-25 year old just needing a chance. Every year one of those guys pops form unknown to decent or better.

Back in the old Ferrari days the concern was they played like front runners but they had the talent, that's exactly how they should've played.

Now they play like an old Datsun.

The window isn't closing, they have too many elite players who will be good for a long time. But they are at the stage where they'll have to retire certain players as they bring in guys and get them acclimatised. That's a long way from impossible but it also requires smart list management and a coach who has a plan.

I think you would be surprised. I agree he is an amazing player when fit. But Pittonet is our future and we have tom de koning waiting in the wings and Casboult that can hold his own when needed. We need another midfielder/forward- you have buckets of them

I think his 2018 form shows that he is elite. But I agree that he has had problem,s with injuries. But as a stop gap he is potentially going to win you a premiership

We were outplayed and the Tigers were on.

Did we have some injuries? Yes but that’s no excuse.

Don't think they play finals from here as just not in good enough form. And their coach also has no idea, needs to be replaced with someone competent.

I actually went to the grand final last year as a Giants fan. The way they are playing is coaching for mine and a little bit of the grand final loss coming through the performances of senior players. I saw it in Adelaide players in 2018.
