Is Laidley the man?

He even acknowledged that he played Harris for too long last year when he was down on form, now he pulls this s#$t.
He played Watts at times when he should have been dropped. He played Browns at times when he should have been dropped. What goes through his brain in regards to selection is beyond anybody in this universe including Satan. It just doesn't make sense and can only be explained by the following. Laidleys = Clown.

Darwinism comparisons to Richmond 10,000, club balancing extinction, priceless.
Lets sign JYD up for 3 years and and just support the club(West Sydney that is).

English please.

No.

He had Simpson, Harvey, Grant, Archer, Stevens, King, Colbert, Rawlings, Rocca and so on when he arrived as experienced players.

He had Wells, Petrie, Harris, Hale, McIntosh, Motlop, Firrito, Jones, Harding and so on as younger players recruited when he arrived.

He has had 7 years on top of that to recruit others into his regime and gameplan.

He had his goes on recycled players Thommo, Hay, Power, Green, Harvey, Thurley and Lance.

Now he rambles on about how much experience we have lost and the injuries and how young we are.

Terry Wallace spin doctor.

Its not just the name Nick. Draft picks that high dont get drafted on name alone. He has shown something in the junior ranks. He moves beautifully for a taller fellow.

He must have tested well at draft camps too, although Im not privvy to these results cause I cant be bothered searching for them.

The only query is how he will adjust to senior football and whether his body will stay fit enough to get through some preseason work and then some senior matches, but just to suggest its his name that got him drafted I think is harsh.

Believe it or not the Tarrant name doesnt hold much value in AFL circles.

No doubt the fact we picked him up with our first rounder would contribute to our hope of him being a star of the future, but i'm yet to see anything of him.

I think the obvious option for a new coach (if we are not prepared to stick with Laidley) is John Longmire. Lets not forget he applied for the job of St Kilda coach after Grant Thomas left. He is one of the assistant coaches for Sydney and has more responsibility than most as Paul Roos likes to sit on the boundary so mos of the time he calls the shots from the box.

Paul Roos' former assistants have a high success rate when looking to the future ex. Ross Lyon. Also he is a fromer North Melbourne player and so has a sense of club spirit already.

In conclusion the pros of John Longmire are:

  • he wants to be a senior coach
  • he has developed under one of the best and most successful coaches in the AFL
  • he has had more responsibility than most assistant coaches
  • he already has ties with the club

Would coach for reasonable money too. Being a forward may help balance out the Sydney baggage Lyon turned up with also. Looks a candidate. But hey if you think Laidley will be going anywhere you havent been listening to our Presidents views on the situation. Only DR has a more misguided view on the situation.
