There was an article on Guerra in today's Age.
It said that about half an hour before the trade deadline, Port rang North and then Geelong to see if a trade could be done. It seems that both North and Geelong were still scrambling for the Rawlings deal. So Port got in touch with St.Kilda and the Saints offerred their 3rd round pick as an ambit offer....much to the Saints surprise, Port accepted it.
I would think that the Roos rated Guerra as a 2nd round player, and so, didn't bother to offer a 3rd round pick to Port in the belief that it would be turned down. The Saints got cheeky, and they got rewarded.
Oh well...win some, lose some.
