Generally speaking no but I’m human and that one was teed up beautifully.

Believe it or not it was actually good natured. I don’t mind TK. Sh1ts me to tears but I still respect him as a true Demon.

The KPD hole is real now that Adams won't be ready for a year or more, if ever, on current VFL form. Really hope we aggressively target McKay
Tall defenders yes; but are main issue this year, is our ability to run/carry the ball thru halfback and wing... delivering well to inside F50.
A player who I'd like to have is Lachie Ash.

This would cover any future issues with Salem, and allow us to be a bit more adventurous with the ball exiting our D50.

we could have small medium defenders for the future of :-

Rivers/Salem, May/Adams
Mcvee, Lever/Turner, Ash

With Bowey rotating thru there or on a wing/half forward.

I reckon Rivers could also learn the on-ball role.

I would hit the draft for more tall kids, forwards over 200cms, and also defenders of that height range.

eg: Archer Reid, for one Possible?

Just because we have a tall defender and a tall forward at Casey, does not mean they will cut the mustard. Should we wait 3 yrs to see that, or just get a couple more in now.

I don't want to go down the old worn pathway to oblivion, of trading for others spent players, to carpet over any crqacks in our list.

Petty is needed in two places right now. If we're not trusting Tomlinson to hold down Full Back, then Petty stays a defender, which leaves us short up forward. Tomlinson gets found out every now and then, but surely we just trust him now our forward issues are out of control. Petty forward just helps us more.

Too early to call on Adams and Jefferson
. Both have shown glimpses, but nothing more. Both need size and experience. Year or more from impacting I reckon.
That's the dilemma. We have some in-betweeners back and forward.

Lever is a claytons tall defender, who plays more as a 3rd tall intercept. Under physical pressure IMV he is a liability. Unable to clear the ball, or kill the contest outright. He is great when playing alone.

Petty is a very reliable player at either end but is no star. But Petty is a physical type player, and is a contested mark.
He also helps to shield our other tall forwards; something he has learnt I presume from his defending days. Similarly to TMc, when he first ventured forward.

I think JvR needs help from behind, to shield him often in packs to mark the footy. I also see JvR as being our next CHF when we find our own tall marking forward. (199cms +)
JvR to replace TMc's recent role as lead-up high tall forward. CHF.

So far we have tried Smith, Brown, and Petty up forward; and only Petty looks to have the instincts to support the other talls, or go for the mark himself in a pack.

Smith is another in-betweener who just doesn't exhibit the aggression intuitively at the ball, and contest. He who hesitates is last.

Brown is OK but is another who lacks enough aggression at ball.

TMc has it, but not so much the leap. Better as the running high half forward. His best work is around the wings to half-forwardline. We're missing his best footy in this position, right now.

JvR is just a baby atmo. And undersized deep forward in packs.

.........

Way too early to call on Adams and Jefferson; agree with you on this. But it seems jefferson is another meek tall forward type.

Game style saw us dominate the Giants but the kicking cost us the game,

Just because we closed much of the Giants game down, does not mean we have the better system.

Sure we shut them down with our team defence; but we couldn't transition our ball forward well enough to put them away.

Hardly domination.

We need to play a bit more intuitively, in today's more-open footy style.

This is where Lachie Ash would aid Mcvee and Rivers, in bringing the ball towards our F50, with siome speed and better skills.

How are we looking without Fritsch for 8 weeks?
Not a lot different. He has been too passive so far this year anyway.
This could bring JvR back in.

JvR and BBB in tandem... try this to see if we can make it work.

Fritter should have been rolling around the F50mtr arc anyway. He is no high-mark against a stronger opponent. Better to play like a cat around the F50 arc. Surprise attack, or get loose in space.

I would have all of Fritter, Pickett, and Spargo, all rolling thru high-half-forward, creating space in our F50. Play JVR and BBB deeper.

Anyway Fritta is now not in question for a couple of months, so our hand is now forced.

Nah. We dominated them but didn't kick straight.

Conversion was 25% v 58%. That's the game.

Smashed them in every key category for that particular game and it's conditions.

I’m not confident, but if you subscribe to a premiership is being about beating the best, a look at the current top 4 against each other is interesting.

Melbourne 2-2 with a loss against Port that could’ve been a win having led well late in the game. One flattering close-ish loss against Brisbane that felt like it should’ve been a 40 point loss. Counter that with a tight win against Collingwood that should’ve been a 30 point win. Last night’s game could’ve gone either way. Melbourne could easily be any record between 0-4 and 3-1.

Port are 2-1 but with a massive loss against Collingwood, a huge win against Brisbane and that tight win against Melbourne that could’ve gone the other way. Could be 2-1 or 1-2.

Collingwood are 1-2 and could’ve snatched it against Melbourne to be 2-1.

Brisbane are 2-2 but could’ve been 3-1 if they, as they should’ve, hung on last night.

It’s really tight head to head this year but the relative blowout games have all happened with home ground advantage. I’d rather Collingwood finish 1st and Melbourne 4th for that reason. A chance to go straight into a prelim likely against a non-Vic team.

Keep winning at the G, get our star players back at the end of the year and we could do a Tiges 2019 from third - they won their last 7 at the G in H&A and finished 16-6.

We have 5 of our last 7 at the G and should (famous last words) win all the games at the G at least. Means we would go into finals having only lost 1 game at the G to Freo of all sides lol.

We could then pump Brissy on GF day, as the interstate team with the garbage record at the G (GWS in 2019).

Sorted, I'll call Simon tomorrow and tell him the plan

1. Beat Pear in away QF
2. Beat Cats in home PF
3. Beat Pies in GF
4. Profit
