Certainly feels like we're timing our run a bit better this year, and we look much fitter than late in 2022.

In with a chance now.

Should win that comfortably.
Comfortably?

Not enough respect being paid to Carlton here. They've timed their form perfectly and watching them on Friday night they certainly have the talent and x factor to cause some serious damage come September.

Charlie Curnow is in a rich vein of form. I know May did the job last time but his last 4 weeks have been absolutely phenomenal.

Curnow is on fire and we know May is on the decline. He can still intercept well, but this match up is dangerous for him (or any defender really).

They're still in the mix of teams chasing us, a win gives keeps that important buffer providing both teams win next week.

We are 2 games and % clear of 5th with North & Hawthorn coming up

Carlton are 2 & 1/2 games behind us.

May hopefully proves to be Curnow’s kryptonite again. If so we win because I don’t rate Carlton’s second string forwards and smalls at all. We’ve got them covered.

Of all our top notch recruiting decisions of the past decade, using the pick we received from Fremantle (5) to bring in May has been the most pivotal (and brave).

He just altered the whole structure, feel and energy of the side from moment he walked in the door. I remember Collingwood wanted him badly at the time and it felt such a coup to have May choose us over them.

A premiership quality back six built around a hulking fullback means we are in every game up to our necks even when things aren’t going to plan up field.

Hopefully we can jag at least one more flag while he’s still reasonably well in his prime.

Gotta do everything we can to take the second seed off Port now.

Do you feel that they may keep Tomlinson in the side and put him on the big forward so as too free up May ?

Daniel Hoyne put a watch on this as May floated around against Richmond and got up the ground a fair bit with Tomlinson spending a lot of time on Riewoldt.

If Tomo lines up on Larkey this week then it will probably happen again with Curnow.

I wouldn’t flirt with what’s worked in the past. May shutting off Curnow’s lights goes three quarters the way of beating them. Their whole side sinks in confidence when Curnow is blanketed.

The potential for Curnow to get off the leash on Tomlinson is too big a risk to take in a game where 1-4 goals will likely be all that separates the sides at the final siren.

Ahh ok so it looks like Tomlinson is still in the side so maybe this is the plan. May is a superb kick normally and if he is running around that 40 to 50 that could be another strategy they have to utilise his offensive power coming out of defence.

May took Curnow to the clearers last time, doubt we change that.

I hope so.

McKay took Tomo to the cleaners. We dont really have anyone else to play on him though unless we move Petty back which would be unbelievably stupid.

Im really looking forward to that game, might even try and be #ATG. Atmosphere will be electric on Saturday night, packed house.
