Feels like rock bottom given we haven’t improved with the talent on the list and a bloke who should know how to coach.

Something rotten at the club. So many players that look like they don’t give a ****.

Hate to knock a kid but the footage of Duursma congratulating O’Connor for the goal he kicked on him is a terrible look.

Have some pride and show something other than you are an easy beat.

If this game was in 2022, we would've lost by 125+. 75 is still a huge loss of course.

The main gain by the end of this year would probably be having comben and bignoa hopefully playing 12 to 15 games and then in 2025, they establish as the mainstay with Logue back at FB with Corr gradually phased out.

While we may have already hit rock bottom, the worst part is that we seem hellbent on staying there.

That's what total rebuilding looks like. We actively cut all the players who weren't going to take us forward hence we have to bare the consequence of a young developing team. It's just the phase. We must be strong of the mind to endure the Golden Path. The previous admins were not strong enough to take it. The current one is taking it.

Personally it’s the hope that has completely killed me following North. We all expected excitement and a team on the rise, and the results are arguably saying we’re worse than ever before. The light at the end of the tunnel is constantly moving away from us.

Ummmm, we are getting youngsters taking over the key positions around the group. We are essentially like a new start up team.

Off the topic, why didn't we just relocate? I mean GC and Tas have many juicy carrots dangling there for the taking. Well from a real estate webinar, seemingly completely irrelevant except it said that Arden is going to be a major development going forward to cater to high density living hence infrustructure, transport all have to have huge upgrade.

Our club's equity and profile will also get lifted by default of being in Arden and right at the centre for that matter.

*Gold Coast is the Bermuda triangle for sports teams
*we were never given any formal offer of any kind of relocate to Tasmania. And for that matter, outside of Caro Wilsons fictitious sexual fantasies, I've seen zero credible evidence we were given any informal offer.

Where are all the posters banging on about how good our first quarter and a half vs Freo was??? The excitement and euphoria on here over that was dead-set ludicrous.

We've played 45 minutes of good footy this year. And then once the opposition cranked up the heat, we wilted anyway.

Are we still a club full of introverts? Maybe the abundance of 6ft and under mids makes us easy to bully? There's no-one to fly the flag.

Our captains are all at sea. Lukey Mac pretends his tough sometimes as he tries to intimidate opponents by smiling.
Jy occasionally flexes his muscle but he is a small mid & void of confidence, playing VFL standard footy.

LDU is Cunners re-incarnate - I don't even know what he sounds like when he speaks.

Sheezel seems a quiet fellow.

Wardlaw - love this kid but lacks the size to seriously fly the flag.

Comben is the one for me. He is the ONLY guy on our list who could lead this club by his actions, and his size. God help us if his body fails him over the next season or 2.

I can't see us beating Haw next week. They can play decent footy for more than a quarter. If we were to get thumped by them, then things start to get interesting.........

Sure, but why didn't we relocate, esp for a small underperforming club like ours? Question 1.

Question 2: why did finally made the decision to gut the list in 2020 and totally bottom out?

Well, from something totally different, i.e. investment related news, they mentioned Arden is one of the 10 major development spots as first priorities for high density residentual living space meaning the gov will roll the fund to revamp infrustructure and transportation. This means Arden profile will see a massive rise, the equities on the land will see massive right meaning class asset will worth far far far more by the end of next decade.

Hence why we are able to bottom as our financial future has been secured for the first time since Carey left.

We weren't underperforming onfield, we made a prelim the year the push to Gold Coast all went down, pressure to relocate/merge was always about our offield position.

Presuming that we saw other clubs become flag contenders using this method, but having never done it before we just right royally ballsed it up. Remember it took Carlton about 6 goes to get it right.

I'm no expert on this kind of thing, but we don't own the Arden street facility and after years of dropping 'North Melbourne' from our name and running around the country trying to court other markets, our following in the actual area of North Melbourne is pretty weak. So I'm not sure that really helps us to the degree of being financially secure.

Paragraph 1, if we bombed out there and then in 2007, AFL would've moved us as we had no money and no onfield sucess to boot.

Paragraph 3, is probably by far the most important aspect of them all. The talk for us to relocate to tasmania came after GC got set up but back then we are doing alright, in the finals and all.

Back in 2010, b4 the brumby gov got tossed out, we got promised 30 mil funding of the new facility (current club). Then around the 2014, 15 was when the talk of the Arden project was starting. Now, linking up with 10 hotspot for priority development, put 2 and 2 together, we are sitting on a 7 billion goldmine and that is worth more than anything the AFL could have offered us.

In terms of no. of followers and membership, they count for very little compared to the gov support and the corporate side of things.

We NMFC just happens to be at the right place at the right time.

Absolute rock bottom will be a winless season.

Historically it doesn't happen, was paying long odds preseason, especially for us.

At the moment it's arguably 50/50.

No team is winning games of football against anyone with the defensive transition numbers we are putting up.

Flyscreen in a submarine just about sums it up.

I truly believe none of the teams have really dialed it up against us either, with the exception of the second half from Freo. As they have found their own transition so easy to score.

Hawks @ Marvel & Launceston.
Eagles @ Marvel
Richmond @ Marvel

Probably the only winnable games of the season.

years of dropping "North Melbourne" - you mean an 8 year stretch that ended 17 years ago? Does anyone who's not a North supporter even remember that?

Beating GC in round 24 last year meant we got Duursma instead of Reid - that's the reality of it?...... It could end up being the straw that breaks the camels back.
So far Duursma has taken one nice mark. He looks like he has talent. Definitely no guarantees at this stage he will be an A Grade player though - we all HOPE he will be. And did we actually need another half-forward flanker???? I hope for all of our mental health that Duursma becomes an A Grade AFL footballer.
Reid is a generational talent - big-bodied mid with grunt & spunk. He is EXACTLY what we needed. It's going to hurt so much watching him for the next decade. On top of watching JHF have a stellar career at Port. I mean seriously, how much are we as NM fans, expected to tolerate? It has gotten beyond a joke. It really has.

I sincerely hope that the Board is fully aware of how close the supporter base is to breaking. "Be patient. It will turn" is a cop out. Will it turn? Who the **** knows? It might. Maybe. One day. But when - not before 2030. You can take that to the bank.

So you rather have the 2002 to 2019 yoyoing stuff?

May i ask, what have we achieved between 2002 and 2019?

Gary Lyon believes he could be the best of the lot.
