He had a bad quarter. It happens. He was out cleanest and best user in the last 3 quarters. Kid is a jet.
And it was a great sign of his temperament that he copped early goals but then later played with so much composure.

Anyone else noticing he’s a strangely excellent contested mark? He took three or four intercept marks last night, and a couple were really good grabs.

So we can add sticky fingers to his lightning pace, powerful burst of speed, cat-like agility, clean ball handling, contested prowess, composure in traffic, excellent decision making, and team-best kicking.

And he’s only played a handful of games.

This guy will be something seriously special.

I’m surprised at how good IQ is, with so little experience and this early in his career. Such a good sign to see him not drop his head after a horrible first quarter. He’s also recovered well from the horrendous injury, with no sign of being tentative. Has a great temperament to go with some exceptional footy skills. We’ve landed a good one here.

Very impressive from IQ - that consistent run and carry, we have not seen since H. Defensively he still gets exposed but hopefully that will improve with time. Either way, he is in our best team.

We have discovered a few gems this season.

I'm just highlighting the subtle prejudices at play with Lumumba. Perhaps I should have better clarified in my original post that there's no reason to compare specifically with Lumumba's "personal issues". You can compare their playing styles all you like because they both played that defensive rebound role. How one has a more penetrating kick, how one is faster etc etc or even if you think they play exactly the same. No problems with that.

But what possible link is there between Lumumba's "support of causes or desire to meet the Dalai Lama" and Quaynor? Because they're both rebound defenders for Collingwood? Because they might have a similar running/kicking style? It might be worth asking why no one gives "props" to Noble or Maynard for not supporting "causes" but did so for Quaynor like it's some sort of stigma he has to overcome. The topic of whether supporting "causes" should even be seen as an issue is a whole other matter that I won't get into.

Again I'm not calling the original poster a racist or that it was intentional. Just trying to highlight some of the subtle prejudices we have as a club/society and hoping that with the whole BLM movement and our club's integrity review into our past, we can be better.
Perhaps if Harry was going to appear at the Collingwood hearing into racism, you could be on his defence team?

Badly need to Tighten up Defensivly

The ability to lock down on a player was always the worry for me. He's good 1v1 in most instances, strong and brave, and shown he's a good mark of the footy. Just that he loses his opponent at times. I think he's learning on the job though and hasn't been beaten across 4 quarters which is all you can ask this early in his development. Still think he'll end up playing off a wing.

Agree with most of this but don't think it will be wing... i think he'll be at the coalface winning clearances. Inside-outside mid.

Absolute gem, just needs more experience to learn, (and know) where to put his body -so as not to lose his position/advantage in the one on ones.

Very good player and progressing really well.
Strong overhead (which is surprising)

Rebounds strongly and kicks have real penetration.
Can mix it up by hitting shorter targets too.

Sexton kicked 3 but all those goals were at fault by others up the ground losing 3v1s or 4v1s.
And that included guys like Maynard and Moore uncharacteristically

.

In the NAB league he often played as a key position defender on 190cm+ Forwards so he is quite capable overhead

There’s a lot of salt on social media about this, always find away to kick the pies and that’s the way we like it

Time for him to start taking the kick in. With his speed and hoof he should be able to get it to half way and well clear of immediate danger. Got to be better than some of the recent efforts of Moore and Maynard.
