Jews had lived peacefully in Arab and Muslim countries under 1400 years of Muslim rule. Zionism put an end to that
Judaism as a religion is over 3,300 years old, Islam 1,400.

Now I think all religious are a waste of one's brain capacity however when people, such as the esteemed senator Thorpe, complain about Israel colonising Palestinian land, perhaps they should do themselves a favour and go study ancient history. They'll realise Jews were in Palestine around a thousand years before the birth of Islam.

Muslims were the invading force and no, it was never 'peaceful'.

Taking most of Paleistine's land and giving it to another group of people was never going to work.
England invaded Ireland about 400 years ago yet England still claims Northern Island.

Obviously not but the question is, whose land was it originally?

It was Jewish land for a good thousand years before the advent of Islam.

It's changed many times over since then but that's why it's such a flashpoint, every group in the region claims it as theirs.

The middle-east is extremely tribal and the drawn up borders from colonial times turned the region into the mess it's been for over a century now.

Seen theories that suggest either:
1. Israel knew it was coming, wanted it to come as an excuse to declare war
2. Intelligent services knew it was coming but didn't pass it along because of the situation with the courts (not an expect in this so not quite sure what that meant)
on the second my imperfect understanding is that the courts until recently had the power to block some of the Israeli PMs whims, so it reads that intelligence wanted to strengthen the position of the PM to **** over the courts.

Yes but if you can claim land from a thousand years ago there will be perpetual war all around the world.
Like I said earlier, imo, the Jewish people should have been given sovereignty over holy sites in Palestine where they already lived and given a Jewish State in Germany.
Whoever thought of creating the state of Israel in Palestine has created a never ending war that has already been going for 80 years.
'During the Second World War about 12,000 Palestinians volunteered to serve in the British army. These volunteers participated actively in battles in North Africa and Europe. Many of them lost their lives, others were wounded and many are still missing.'
It's not as if the Palestinians were fighting with the nazis. They should have been able to keep their territory.

And someone else owned the land for thousands of years longer before Judaism came to exist.

Heck the origins of Judaism are based mostly on claims, and texts hundreds of years after the fact, than concrete evidence. Where there is evidence the Judaism isn't as old as some claim it to be. Bibles shouldn't be used as historic fact.

Every inch of land on this earth could be claimed by just about anyone using history. What happened so long ago is irrelevant to todays society. Pushing modern people out of their homes that their families have lived in for generations, because you stake a claim to the area based on something your book says happened a few hundred years ago, is not right, no matter how much it is spun.
I think you missed the point but ok.

Serious question tho; how many of those Palestinians were Jewish? They were all called Palestinians then as there was no Israel.

Those maps are fake though. They've been doing the rounds for years.

Also you didn't answer my question? It's OK if you don't know, neither do I.
I dont think they're fake. I don't know the exact land controlled by Jewslish people then but the Allies in their wisdom certainly appropriated land from the Palestinians in 1946.

- 'The US has ordered the Ford carrier strike group to sail to the eastern Mediterranean in efforts to be closer to Israel following Hamas’s attacks, two US officials told the Associated Press anonymously on Sunday.

“The USS Gerald R. Ford and its approximately 5,000 sailors and deck of warplanes will be accompanied by cruisers and destroyers in a show of force that is meant to be ready to respond to anything, from possibly interdicting additional weapons from reaching Hamas and conducting surveillance,” the Associated Press reported.'

Great, an escalation of war. Good ol USA!

In 2012, the UN general assembly delivered an overwhelming vote in favor of Palestinian statehood.

At least 138 member states recognize Palestine as a state. Meanwhile, dozens of countries including the US and UK do not recognize Palestinian statehood.

For many, the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip are commonly refered to as the Occupied Territories.

Over the years, various human rights organizations including the Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have condemned Israeli authorities’ actions in the territories, with the HRW calling them “crimes against humanity of apartheid and persecution against millions of Palestinians.”

Amnesty International has called Israel’s governance a “continuing oppressive and discrminatory system” as it imposes arbitrary restrictions on Palestinians’ freedom of movement, including limiting their rights to work and asylum seeking processes.

In 2022, Amnesty International also reported that administrative detention of Palestinians “hit a 14-year high.”

The age of their religion does not make Palestinian's an "invading force". The origin of the name is Greek from 1200BCE. Who knows how long people were there before that - we know the first African's walked through about 65,000 years ago.

Arguing over who was there first is completely futile.

I have a feeling we are about to witness a full scale war between Israel and Iran and a coalition of other middle eastern states.

This is the straw that's broken the camels back on both sides imo.

In terms of the music festival, it will go down as an all-time own goal by Hamas.

The USS Ford carrier strike group 12 is now on route to Israel, the US Navy has also re-deployed an Arleigh Burke-Class Guided-Missile Destroyer group from the Western Mediterranean to Israel.

I think Hamas will be getting a visit from Seal Team 5 shortly about these US hostages.

Israel must be an American state, unlike Ukraine.

Moving an Arleigh Burke-Class Guided-Missile Destroyer group to Israel also.

A decades old ally has been attacked and US citizens have been murdered and kidnapped in the process, seemingly greenlit and co-ordinated by Iran, what do you expect them to do?

The US looks after it's allies, it's also why Australia has joined them in every major armed war since WW2.
