They could have attempted to come to a peace which didn't involve slowly invading Palestinian land inch by inch but have been greedy and using religion as a justification.

I think most people are ideologically incoherent, as political education has disappeared over the last several decades. Not sure that’s the same thing as centrist.

I also think people have historically been pro-Israel but that’s increasingly changed over the last decade or two as it’s become harder to justify. I think this will probably change that for a lot of people, as the concept of resisting oppression is a lot more attractive than its brutal reality.

This conflict is not certainly binary.

Hamas deliberately target civilians and teach their kids that Jews are sub-humna.
Israel encroaches on Palestinian land and the fundamentalists wat Palestine wiped out. Jordan (from the Transjordan era) has done little to nothing to alleviate the suffering of Palestinians, who are used throughout the arab world to justify all sorts of anti-democratic domestic political matters. 48 & 53 still echo in the memories of all sides and the situation won't resolve itself for decades.
