Fairly certain he's recently signed a 4 year deal.
Really ?! 😃
That is awesome news
Made my day

Good to see he is a sensible lad
He’s a surfer and the water in WA is a hell of a lot warmer than Victoria

I’m not sure about that?? Haven’t heard anything about Young re-signing….hope he has or does though

Meanwhile, emerging Fremantle defender Hayden Young is closing in on a four-year contract extension, reports Twomey.

“This is looming as a big result for the Dockers,” he said.

“Hayden Young, he’s contracted already until the end of 2023, but the Dockers have moved quickly to lock him in.

“He’s closing in on a four-year extension. That would essentially tie him to Fremantle for the next five seasons, including next year, until the end of 2027 when he would become a free agent.”

Logue, you idiot!!

On this one - yes it was a bad decision by Logue but Aish was the one that handballed straight to the pies player. Not sure why he’s getting a free pass here either?
The handball was never on, and was badly executed when it was given.
Anyone who’s played footy will understand the frustration of running onto a handball pass 2 metres behind you.

He could of just kicked it to Aish and run on if he wanted to try to get something going

Playing on there was just so dumb

You’re joking? Aish didn’t want the ball. Wasn’t leading. Immediately under pressure, Logue sprints like a leopard past him. It was such a poor play.
The fens off was such a stupid decision. Went for that instead of just kicking it down the wing. That is why Freo can’t win in the wet. Not instructed to just play territorial.

Also another at fault is Clark. Asks for the kick in the corridor. Marks it, and goes lateral for a gain of what? 5 metres? Could’ve taken the play on and go through the middle quickly

Why is he wasting all that time to handball to someone who was under pressure? Aish clearly has a man charging at him and logue still decided to go there

Just really good defence by the Pies. They closed off any long options as well as staying just the right distance off Aish to allow him to come into play. We were doing that just a few weeks ago ourselves.

I think you nailed it here. Once they kicked their 3rd goal yesterday the game was over. I said to myself I’d be better off here switching off the tv and going for a walk in the freezing Melbourne evening air.
Against my better judgement I stayed watching knowing full well there was no way back. It was obvious watching it. It was just the vibe of it.

I hate that predictability of losing. That’s what kills fans. That’s what hurt me about yesterday. If we are to be taken seriously as a team, we cannot be a side that is beaten the minute we go three goals down. If we played on till midnight we were not going to reel the pies in. It’s a sign of a side that is mentally weak.
Good teams don’t do that. Leaders step up and impose themselves on the contest when the momentum is against us.
Fyfe is the only freo listed player that you can rely on to so that, whatever the circumstances and hence he is the only true A grader in this team yet.

This should pick you up a bit.

It was a bad decision by Aish too though. He should have see the hand pass was not on and turned out to the boundary on his right and taken some territory with a long kick downfield.
Yes it was an error by Logue and a bad decision but Aish isn’t 100% absolved of the blame either.
In any case there are 50 moments a game like this and dissecting them for an individual player is easy pickings to back up a point or a preconceived idea of a player.

That’s literally over 2 years ago now.
Jeez - Stephen Hill was playing in that game!!

It would be nice to have a more recent example to back up your point.

Doesn't matter if Aish didn't want it, once the ball is in your hands it is your responsibility. He should have bombed it forward and create some chaos.

Another fun fact. Tabs & Lobb didn’t take one mark inside 50 between them. Not one.
Now Switta sent to the tribunal, dear Gods don't take our one inside 50 playmaker out before Melbourne.

I've had some time to reflect on this game. I got very angry watching this yesterday. I've lived & died by Freo for over 20 years now, I watch every game no matter how bad we are. I've learned not to be too affected as at times I've stopped enjoying the game and that is, after all, what it is, a game.

It isn't far fetched to compare the emotions us real true believers feel at times to a relationship that borders on abusive. We get slapped in the face and we promise ourselves we won't get sucked in like last time and then we get seduced again only to get slapped again.
I see it here all the time, those who say they don't care any more, those who are furious, those trying to believe again. I've done it all a dozen times.

For whatever reason this one really hurt. I've been trying to figure out why. I think its partly because it reminded me of when we were really flaky and you could tell in the first 5 minutes if we'd come to play. From the second half of the first quarter yesterday it was obvious which way this one was going, a repeat of last week and so it was. We didn't give a yelp. Sure we tried hard and fought it out but our forward entries are so dysfunctional I stopped being excited when we went forward and instead wondered which Pies player would mark it or intercept. It was predictable and pathetic how bad we were.

Sure I get it, we're young, we're going to be inconsistent but some of the selection and coaching just feels wrong.
I know some people find it stupid to make so much of Walker but the fact is our run of wins coincided with dropping a tall and bringing him in and it ended when we dropped him. We persist in playing Pearce when he's not 100% and for whatever reason our back 6 has gone from impenetrable to practically dysfunctional and easily picked apart.

And yes, I can't avoid it, Banfield. Just why?
And Sturt, why not? And Erasmus why not? and Amiss why not?
Its awful because it reminds me of Lyon and his persistence in picking his favourite role players despite the evidence every week it wasn't working.

Its truly like PTSD symptoms because I get affected by these things far more than I should. Because yesterday reminded me of everything thats been bad about this team in the past.

I know the season isn't over and I know we'll have good games again but just now I'm still angry and one way I manage that is writing it out here.
This is a vent, take it or leave it.
Spot on E Shed. You’ve nailed it.

So True. it was mentioned b4 the game by Buckley that he read Pendles mouth, to play the territory game.
We played the too cute to be sure game, and got smashed because of it.
Wet, get ball and send it as long as you can towards our goal.
Forwards, get in f'ing FRONT!!

The more I think about it the more I'm not blaming the weather. Skills let us down on Sunday. Collingwood looked like they played in dry conditions because they had a more skillful side. Watch it again. They were a one touch outfit because of there experienced, much older players with silky skills.

The fact that on a wet day 7 of Collingwoods 12 goals were kicked by tall forwards (Henry, Mihocek, Cameron) doesn't auger well for our key backs. I think who are our best lockdown key backs are is still an open question. For me you have to be either tall (197cm+) or big and strong (99kgs+) to deal with the big key forwards and rucks drifting down. You must be able to out reach them or out bussle them with strength. I like Pearce as at 201cm he has the height (and actually pace) to go with the big key forwards, but with those matchstick legs he just gets bussled off the ball and goes to ground way to easily (despite being 99kgs). Logue has the strength and weight (99kgs) to outbussle the big guys, but at 194cm is lacking when you come up against a King brother of McKay (all 200+)......Hamling for me has neither (height 194cm or weight 92kgs) so isn't a key lockdown back option for me and is more competing with the likes of Ryan/Chapman for a game, both or who are way ahead of Hamling. So that just leaves Cox who at 195cm and 100kgs (our heaviest back) should offer a good lockdown option. But his intensity is lacking. He is taller and heavier than Sam Collins, but if we could just implant Collin's intensity and will not to be beaten into Cox, we could have a very good key lockdown back. Eventhough I like Cox as an intercept defender, with the marking power of Chapman, Ryan and Young we can cover that option, but its our tall lockdown that is the problem for me........I'm not sure Logue or Pearce is the answer
Well your analysis does fall down a bit when you consider Henry is 189cm, Mihoceck is 192cm and Cameron is a ruck.

Looking at it in another way, 8 of Collingwood's 12 goals came from players smaller than 190cm (Henry, WH-E & Ginnivan). It does lend more to the argument that our backline probably was a bit over-balanced towards the height-factor.

Cox, Pearce and Logue isn't working as a combination in my opinion. And if I had to pick the best combo of the two I'd probably pick Logue and Cox, they just gel together better

How many of their soccer kicks paid off? It was remarkable how many times they won possession by booting it off the ground towards their goals.

Our forward line sucks!

In the air our fwds have amassed a measly 5 marks from 101 forward entries.

On the deck we were actually better in the Gold Coast game with 19 inside 50 tackles to 4 in the Pies game, and that's with our 2 pressure forwards in Switta and Walters returning. Tabs also returned but did nothing. For Banfield, Colyer, Schulz and Frederick to not kick a goal in two weeks of wet weather footy is bewildering

Banfield Colyer and Frederick are not contested players and never win a ball on the deck. They are outside targets that get loose and run but need a dry deck and wide expanses and to get fed. Can’t fault Shultz efforts at least at least he looks like he is getting amongst it.

Ginnivan might grow into those shorts one day. Meanwhile I look forward to seeing the cocky little sod knocked back a peg or two. Serious case of figjam.
Yeah but we whinge when players are robotic and show nothing.

He may be cocky but seriously because everyone else in the AFL is so sterile it stands out like dogs balls and everyone wants to talk about him every week.

I don't have a problem with him the way he carries on. It's not like he is doing cheap shots off the ball. Or none that I can see.

He will come back a peg or two eventually when he has a shocker especially if it's in a big game.
