So CD are you an SANFL plant or one of us? Show us "the signal".

Started with giving Matthew Lobbe a lifetime contract despite Ryder coming in, so.
Nah that was Rohde's final deal.

CD was appointed in August 2014 but joined in November and he worked as Rohde's assistant learning the ropes for 6 weeks or so and he tagged along to the national draft and PSD and rookie draft before Rohde officially left some time in December 2014. From the OP of the other Davies thread.

PORT Adelaide is excited to announce SANFL general manager – football Chris Davies will join the club in early November as general manager – football to replace Peter Rohde who announced last week he was leaving the role in December.

Could not agree more .. have had several conversations with CD ... CD and co know what they are doing... :thumbsu:

Again, generally curious to know on what basis you make this assessment. He may be a great conversationalist but what objective KPIs could he possibly be meeting as the head of a grossly underperforming football department?

Whatever the timeline of Rohde properly leaving, the deal doesn't get done without Davies' ultimate say-so.

You'd hope.

Rohde would have done the negotiations. It would have started before the Doggies offer for him and accelerated after that. Davies would have sat in on the negotiations but it was Rohde who put the deal together. Davies as 2nd banana wasn't going to say no to it.

Dogs offer was in 2015, after Lobbe was re-contracted.

Dogs offer was in 2015, post-contract.
Ok I got the 2 years mixed up, but it confirms my thought that a 4 year deal was put together over a longer period and not rushed as I posted previously, so Rohde would have driven negotiations over several months, not Davies over 2 weeks.

So the case for:
  • Good chats
  • Not Peter Rohde
  • Doing well
  • Good at recruiting free agents
  • Resembles George Costanza
The case against:
  • On field results
  • List management
  • Contract management
  • Trade negotiations
  • Playing group culture
  • Resembles George Costanza
Hmmm, yeah...too close to call, really.

i have 100% lost faith, not just CD, in the broader footy department. The Wingard situation at the moment is a dipping point, is i explained in the Wingard thread Chad being traded because of attitude and commitment issues that are years old is a unforgivable failure, He has been traded before ever being forced to play in the Magpies, before being made to fight for his spot to earn his spot back.

Which footballer will be the next to possibly suffer ? SPP, Frampton (was suggested on here there were issues there) or Rankine if we potentially draft him ?

Now i, like most people on here aren't close enough to know who it is most at fault within the footy department but someone or multiple people absolutely must be held accountable. CD may not necessarily need to be sacked but maybe demoted and replaced as head of the footy department, odds are though someone in the footy department needs to go.

As i said in the Wingard thread standards start at the top. In the off season we need to get the footy department right, Kochy said no one is off the table, that mentality needs to start within the footy department and set the tone leading into preseason and 2019.

0508555B-E603-476C-895F-9ACA2740E41D.gif So much for Kochie's big review. Players sacrificed and management saved. Yep. PAFC culture. The one that's given only one premiership across two leagues in 19 years.

Davies still did not explain why Wingard unusually said he could not accept the improvements Hinkley wanted. I would suspect he was not happy with his role anyway, or the game plan or both. No-one is explaining the reasons. Certainly Wingard will play his heart out for Hawthorn, as he sees them as a premiership capable team on track, and under great direction.
