Scape Goat I've lost my faith in Ken Hinkley Part 2

I've calmed down a bit after the past two weekends, and would like to give my 2 cents worth.

Now I don't really like the game plan, I find it boring, it keeps the opposition in the game, and I believe we have the talent to play a much better style of football that would be successful. It is too Ross Lyon for my liking, and while his teams regularly made finals they never won a grand final. I also find Ken Hinkley to be stubborn with respect to ruckmen and structure.

But, I would admit that the Hinkley game plan does work. What we are lacking is decision making and execution. I think regardless of the game plan we all know that. We have lost the last 2 games by under a goal, where an Ollie Wines goal would likely have changed the result of one, and either Motlop or more likely Clurey making better choices with their disposal the result of the other. Had they done that, we would be sitting 3rd on the ladder and a genuine premiership threat. We still wouldn't like the game plan, but it would have us in the mix.

In my opinion we won't ever win a grand final with this game plan, but we should be able to make top 4 with it. Being a long-time Port supporter this is not enough though, as we all know why we exist.

I suspect that the decision makers at the club are looking at it in this way. We have a top 4 game plan, we need to improve our skills, make better decisions, and hopefully once we get to the prelim and grand final that we can execute and have things go our way.

I don't like it because I think we can be better than that. The margin for error in the game plan is too small, so even slight mistakes can be the difference between winning and losing. The question would be, who could be the coach that could lead us to be better?

lol that article basically boiled down to “be grateful it’s not 2012 Ports fans you ungrateful campaigners”

**** off Rooch

It's our version of the ambassadors peddling propaganda to appease the heaving masses.

They can **** off.

When Port aren't winning ( and no not just 2011 and 2012) - what the bloody hell is wrong at Alberton and their members? Why dont they have a revolt at the AGM and demand a turnover of the board and more answers

When they have a winning season - they have too high an expectation and shouldn't be so demanding.

Rooch changes with the direction of the wind.

The season could go from 11-4 to potentially 12-10. If you're not pissed off with that, and demanding of Hinkley and everyone else, then you aren't a true Port fan, you're just there for the joke, for the social life.

Look at that little ****ing legend. God what I would give to have him in the backline these days. He would have run back with the ball, taken out McGovern and held the mark last week.

Or he would have put himself in the guts and stopped them winning the clearance, or if had taken the mark when and where Clurey did, he would have done something to make sure he killed the clock and they didnt get an easy take away.

That 2004 premiership team was full of smart footballers. Its a team full of coaches and football administrators. This lot would struggle to coach Auskickers.

Unfortunately Ken we hear the same this time every year. Biggest mistake Port made was let Hinkley bluff them into a new contract.

players lacking skill, ruck men in the system for 3-4 years that aren't up to yet falls squarely on Ken . But you einsteins thought yeah lets sign him up before GC poach him.. geez i wish they did.View attachment 543222
Wrong. Recruiters have their job, and Ken has his. Recruiters are squarely to blame for playing list

It's staggering tbh.

We were temporarily atrocious (while running on the smell of an oily rag), and then temporarily good (while well-resourced), so Ken has a golden ticket I guess.

It's the same thing the Keith Thomas spruiked in the insider day.

Very worrying. They've lost perspective. The fact Keith loves trotting that bullshit out makes me feel like that article has come straight from him.

Gone are the days when we got a sternly worded email about not accepting failure that was backed by action. Now its "buy tickets to the best and fairest and we'll love you forever p.s some fuzzy shit about turning up to the game on the weekend"
