I wonder whether this thread should be changed to bring back Jack Lukosius....Rankine seems like a waste of time and resources now we have secured Rachele..would rather try and pick up Daniel or Dunkley from the Bulldogs personally...or the pick of the bunch, Pickett...

Daniel would be awesome, even though we already have plenty of half backs, his skills and decision making are elite.. some of the field passes I’ve seen that bloke kick are unbelievable.. huge levels of difficulty and he just consistently nails them. but he’s another who I couldnt see leaving his current club unless we put a very big offer together that he couldnt refuse and it wouldnt cost us any picks as he’s a FA.. but would you pay big for him?.. not sure, but its not like we havent got a shitload of spare cash ATM.. we probably need to blatantly waste some just to stay within the salary cap rules!

i dont think having Rachele means Rankine’s a waste of time at all.. especially given we really need to get Rachele into the midfield asap…

also.. you would have to salivate over a forward line with both the R’s potentially working together in it..

Rankine will come good.. it may take him coming home to do so.. but it will happen.

If they're seriously targeting someone they don't necessarily have to be out of contract. Sure it makes negotiating a fair deal harder if they're contracted but plenty of contracted change teams.

If you go after a contracted player they had better be bloody good because parting with decent picks during a rebuild could backfire horribly.

It doesn't make a difference in terms of reality. If we are in a better position than them if the time ever game and the package was better, he's not going to turn it down.

I stated during his draft year that if there's one player who least needed to be drafted by a weak cultured club like GC it's Rankine.

He's one of those guys who would be more than happy to waste his career cruising around the GC, but to get the best out of him he needs a club like Sydney.
