Allan is killing Victoria with her SRL nonsense. The area that was promised to be a parkland for people will be turned into an eyesore that nobody wants to be next too.

You can say goodbye to Clarinda as a nice suburb.

It’s just the LNP age HS alliance which is drip feeding negativity. It would be interesting to see if they have the balls to actually come out and say they will stop SRL dead.
They won't have to. As it currently stands there is no funding for the project, or very limited funding. The Allen government will b forced to 'pause' SRL and eventually drop it because the state's credit rating will take another hit.

You blindly support SRL because the government keeps telling us Melbourne will be bigger in population than London in 30 years. Yet:
  • there is no business case for the complete project;
  • the government has no idea how it will be funded;
  • We are already seeing funding across other departments slashed because all the eggs are in the SRL basket. Roads funding slashed by 30%, for example.
  • government modelling shows patronage on the Cheltenham - Box Hill line will be well less than the government claims;
  • credit agencies have warned the state's credit rating will take a hit if the government presses on with an unfunded SRL (they have NOT said SRL is bad, just that the state cannot accommodate the massive debt increase).

It really defies logic that the Allen government cannot see the wood for the trees with SRL

Not only that but Hospitals having to slash budgets because of lack of funding from this government
Junta Allan is leading Victoria into multi-generational doom.

Blindly following is not correct and you know it.

Even if this thread I highlighted the issue of city loop reconfiguration not being funded or planned for.

WhenI said the infrastructure pipeline crashed under bailleu on of your fellow * argued said ‘oh it dipped a bit” pathetic

* sorry that was you. Don’t accuse me of blind support for one side when you post that crap

This post doesn’t make sense

PT is run for political gain

The loop was never meant to operate the way it does

The timetable was meant to change and the Andrews government cancelled it at the 11th hour because of marginal seats on the Frankston line

There was also well known long term issues with the power grid around Richmond needing an upgrade that led to go slows

The solution? Metro 2 instead of upgrading the grid without ribbon cutting and telling people on the Frankston line they have to charge trains because of metro 2, not timetable changes

The timetable did change though. January 31 2021 timetable took all Frankston trains out the loop.

Metro 2 doesn't have anything to do with it the Frankston line.

Wow
The cost of the Metro Tunnel rail project has blown out for taxpayers by another $837 million.

Transport Infrastructure minister Danny Pearson said on Thursday that the state had reached a deal with the project’s builders to cover ballooning construction costs.

Victorian taxpayers will cover $837 million while the Cross Yarra Partnerships consortium will cover a similar amount. The increase brings the total cost of the project to the state to $13.84 billion.

Haha, when was Clarinda a nice suburb?

A small bit of land which was maybe going to be parkland becoming a train depot is not a real reason to oppose progress.

What will happen when the SRL costs inevitably blow out? It won't just be $1b either
But Shifty Pearson says that won't happen because the Labor government has already factored in every possible contingency in its costing of the first stages of SRL. "It will be delivered on time and on cost"

In other words cuts to the project.

If any project is delivered "on time and under budget" it generally means something has got the chop from it.

Why?

And napthine govt added the west part of the EW link so the eastern part didn’t stink so much.

Next to no trucks use the eastern fwy west of Burke rd. It is commuter traffic. Doncaster needs some kind of rail link

I do agree the western or northern part of SRL should probably have been prioritised. I guess the University links were a big factor in choosing the east
Other than making it easier for a few people in Kew to get to the airport I have no idea what the point of the EW link is 🤷‍♂️

Not only that but Hospitals having to slash budgets because of lack of funding from this government
Junta Allan is leading Victoria into multi-generational doom.
Some of those hospitals have profited by being paid more to do the same work. The funding is both being rebalanced and cut; the difficulty with the rebalance is the inefficient hospitals are now going “**** we can’t cope” and so government taking $100 million out of my hospital to fund the useless inefficient ones for next budget year

Yeah cos that’s its only use 🙄

Saving anyone travelling from east to west from spending 30 minutes every day looking at Royal park would be good…

Would have stopped the massive bottlenecks on Alexandra Parade 7 days a week.

But anyone who’s never been stuck there apparently think it never happens and only people going to the airport 🙄🙄

Where I live I don’t give a toss about that area. Doesn’t affect me.

Which is the way I feel about the West Gate Tunnel or SRL, don’t effect me and will never use them.

Except for the fact SRL means nothing else can be done in the state for the next 30 years and WGT is paid for by extending tolls on other roads, so people who’ll never use it have to pay for it twice…

yep and I don't get to use any of those ones either. **** all public transport, about 15 k just to drive to a train station, but still "metro melbourne". Main transport link is the airport lol

You're only saying that because nothing of yours is getting affected.

Essentially you're saying, "Hell with your vibrant and functional area of greenery, trees and sporting areas so that the community can benefit from, we need a useless train depot which will be a noisy nuisance and an eyesore."

Also I bet if it was the Libs doing it you'd be protesting like crazy.

Even in the case for EW link the vast majority are not travelling east or west, but to the city and surrounding suburbs

NEL will serve as a second option to the airport for many areas not just Kew.

The key part of the link - which is now being built is a second river crossing

The ‘taking all the infrastructure money’ argument? It’s happening now and NEL, metro western connector is being built

Is the argument really true? Or just like all the skyrail opposition

Oh forgot all the remaining LXR going on

But boo hoo my airport rail. Isn’t coming
