Everyone knows the ALP government is corrupt and incompetent however they can't lose when they don't have any opposition

It is probably less corrupt now than under Dan but lies and corruption is only now coming to light and Jacinta can't lie as well in public.

That may be so, but the difference is one party is the government and the other is in opposition. And the levels of corruption by the Andrews government makes anything the LNP opposition do or did in recent memory pale into insignificance. Just ask Deborah Glass the Andrews appointed now former Victoria's ombudsman. She said this:

"There are multiple findings that we have seen in previous reports where "grey corruption" conduct (of the Andrews government) falls short of criminal because of the very high threshold for corruption findings that we have here in Victoria, but is wrong, it is unethical, it is improper, it breaches codes,"

We've seen enough from Gladys and Scott in recent years to know it's going to be the same with the Vic LNP. There's a reason the LNP fight so hard to avoid independent auditors.

Fair enough. I thought you were talking just VIC

"That MAY be so..."?!

Haha. A snapshot of why your partisanship and inability to have a discussion in good faith makes your posting taken holistically utterly worthless.

And yes, I know there's "whataboutism" all over this board. But you are at the forefront of whining about it... while hypocritically using it as much, if not more, than any other poster.

If you’d bothered to read the post above yours…

Crickets on here about our esteemed treasurer's farewell tour of the world courtesy of the taxpayer.
As expected. $74K on a holiday when he was set to retire. Us mere mortals have to do Trip-a-Deal 2 for the price of one… if we can afford it!

Pallas is a lot worse than Southwick in this instance. You need to open your other eye
Pallas at the time at least had some way to justify it as related to official state business. Although I'm sure there was still plenty of wasteful bullshit. Southwick had zero need to be in Israel. All politicians should be held to higher account for overseas travel. You should hold both sides to account.

$37k on airfares for a European trip is disgusting. Even if the trip was for legitimate reasons (I have no idea), I spent 6 weeks in Europe, flew back and forth from Australia with 4 others internal flights and it cost $2.7k.

They ALL do it and there should be greater transparency.

I also believe it is morally unacceptable for politician who has announced or knows his retirement is imminent to travel overseas at taxpayer expense. And definitely not for $74K - it reminds me of the adage, "Nothing exceeds like Excess".

It's like these retiring politicians think its a right of passage for the taxpayer to fund one last junket. No doubt there are bad examples on both sides.

And sorry to be partisan, but remember Dan Andrew's highly secretive trip to China? No journalists allowed to accompany him. Turned out the primary reason for the trip was for Dan to sign up a post-politics business arrangement with a Chinese manufacturer to build prefabricated granny flats that his joint venture company will import to Australia.
