the good thing is that he is showing some improvement... I dont want to boot the browns but they appear to remain stagnant...
I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure Gavin (Dad) took a few years to really hit his straps.
He was a skinny kid for quite a while.
Neither of the Brown boys have fully grown bodies yet.
If we can carry them, both, for another couple of pre-seasons we may be rewarded.
Question is can we?

we might be able to get them both to unrestricted free agency.....

Rowdy was pretty much a gun as soon as he started. He played wing as a spindly little kid but his courage and will to win set him apart. By his second and third years he was winning all sorts of awards from memory.

Under 19s premiership player 1986
Seniors premiership player and gun player 1990.

So, no.

He hit his straps immediately.

Edit….won the first of his three Copelands in 1989.

Ginni is never going to be fast (he's not slow either - but he won't have pace as an asset) so he just needs to work on his strength. That is something he can improve on with age and more pre-seasons.

He won't ever be fast but he can certainly improve his own pace which would help him overall.
His explosiveness will improve just by working on power and strength for example whilst also making him stronger over the ball and in the contest.

They are already in their 5th and 6th seasons, Callum isn't a body issue he is already a Lil nugget for his height and has been for a few years.

Tyler might get a reprieve as he does need a few extra kilos to play his game at AFL and from all reports has improved in the VFL by lifting his numbers across the board.

I think sentimentality and club loyalties has already seen them given far greater opportunities then a non affiliated player gets offered.

Agree with that as well..although quick ball movement > fleetness of foot. 18 X Greg Willams isn't going to work nor is 18 X Mark Fraser. I well remember Crackers Keenan claiming that Tony Shaw had hidden pace because he was two steps ahead of everyone else. Straight line speed is pretty meh for me. Getting to the drop of the ball first is, in my opinion the most important skill for medium and small sized players

I agree in terms of contests and when a player has the ball. It's the ability to open up and close down space where pace really matters.

That ability isn't totally reliant upon pace, although it certainly helps. The ability to read the play and take that first step before anyone else can't be taught

You would think time has run out for Cal, and is running out for Tyler. Rowdy was younger than Tyler is now when he won his first Copeland (and an EJ Whitten medal).

I wouldn't be surprised if he played this week. I didn't see any footage where it looked like he'd done his hammy. Then when he was on the bench he looked pretty happy for someone who was suppossed to be injured. It may have been one of those fake injuries so they could sub Brown on, who was better suited to yesterday's game style. After the game Fly said Jack would probably miss next week, but he also said Jack was experiencing hamstring tightness. So all things considered I reckon he might get up.
Called it.
