You can’t see that a huge amount of those 40 goals were from frees that he doesn’t get anymore?
He wasn't getting "those" free kicks for most of last season, so the 40 goals were well earned.
Edit: Already been posted and put better than i could have. Should read to the end of the thread before replying.

Absolutely 100% this. So many people on here take it like a personal attack when someone has an opinion on Jack.
The problem is that people make criticisms of Jack that are often personal snipes or insinuations about his character, usually without any evidence.

The prime example is people here condemning him to Stephensonship as a result of a baseless rumour for which we have no reason to believe.

No reason to believe? The bloke trained fully, was named in the 22 to play and was taken out to be "managed" on game day. There's enough there to believe it could be legit.

Fly is not someone who seems to be comfortable with telling lies.

Players are withdrawn late with soreness pretty often.

But hey, if you lot all think some drongos on facebook are a reputable source, then go ahead. All of our players would be in a crack den, prison, or on Epstein’s island if all the comments on that cesspit were true.

I find it bizarre that those talking up these rumours of 'breaking the team rules' don't seem to know he supposedly did... and if there was any truth to it, the media would be all over it by now.

Coincidentally, they seem to come from those who keep pushing for him to dropped every week & traded at the end of the year.

I think it's most likely Ginnivan was sore/below fitness at the captains run (like others, yes) and was left out as he didn't really cut it last week, and they didn't want to bring a out of form and underdone player into that fixture, so we went with Reef last minute, while sparing Ginni the headlines.

It would be pretty absurd if one of our players thought they could go clubbing the night before a game. You wouldn't even do that in local footy ressies. I highly doubt it happened.

Look, it could be completely made up. But I wouldn't go discounting it solely because McRae said one thing and the general consensus is that he doesn't lie.

Hypothetically if it were true he might just throw the mirror in front of smoke and shadows and play the straight bat pending Graham Wright doing his thing and investigating (or for it to be forgotten about). Or to at least not completely destroy his career (or trade value) by throwing him under the bus.

As if there wouldn't be footage all over the media by now of him out clubbing anyway ..

Media doesn't jump on absolutely everything, believe it or not. Not without some decent investigation anyway.

There's a photo circulating of Stengle talking to police in the Geelong CBD. Hasn't hit media yet. For all we know he was just saying G'day!

I think if this were the case, two things would have happened (differently).

Fly would have been way more vague (Jack missed due to a personal matter) and secondly, media would be absolutely crawling across it.

Come on..if there was footage of Jack out clubbing the night before the game & he was dropped prior to the match.. the media would have no hesitation reporting that. Particularly as it involves Collingwood & Ginnivan.

As for Stengle & Geelong. We all know how well protected they are in the media. The media hasn't even reported on the historical rape charges involving the Geelong Football Club. If that involved Collingwood, it would be everywhere.

Even if the rumour that Ginnivan was hitting the town on Sunday is incorrect it still raises concerns that he is fatigued at R13 despite only playing 8 games. That is an issue in and of itself given he's a third year player.

Did McRae say he was always playing catch up and it wore him down? Or did I read that on here?

I'm not even sure why he was playing catch up to begin with. The Torquay toilet didn't exactly steal his fitness 🤷

You’re right. Fly specifically said he had done a lot of load and was “chasing his tail to catch up” which is not something you hear often.

Didn't rest the blokes with the flu or with injuries and we were coming off a nine day break.

He had a shocker against WCE were his effort was sub par and was dropped. I'm pretty confident it's that simple

And had his best game the week before. Fly usually backs them in, just like when Hill had a shocker multiple weeks in a row. He understands that forward role isn't always the easiest.
If he was dropped, he wouldn't have been named, or just put as the sub. I'm confident it wasn't that at least. Otherwise you are robbing him of playing VFL also.

Yeah, guess so. Drop him "last minute" so it doesn't cause a huge headline as he is a big name player, despite his reputation definitely exceeding his career to date.

... Or he was out on Sunday 😂😂

They don't get dropped for a bad game, but effort is another story.

someone had to be the carryover and miss VFL.

I just think they were avoiding his dropping being a big story, thus they didn't announce it.
