Could it be that ginni is still a very young player who is having a bad form patch

I think it's more than form. I think they could play him deep and he'd put up some pretty decent goal numbers, but they want more pace deep - Cox and McStay are also slow and we have pacy options this year - so they're playing him higher up the ground and he's yet to work out how to consistently contribute outside of just kicking goals.

You know my love for Ginni, but surely he’s a pure forward? His deficiencies (as well documented on here…) would at face value make it difficult for him to succeed in another position. His best footy is close to the goals.
Agree, always seen him as a Luke breust type. Not quick or great overhead, but very smart around goals and reads the ball drop well.
I remember hodge talking about breust when he got drafted and thought he'd never make it, but hard work and perseverance got him there. Sometimes early success can make it harder for kids to understand what's required to have a lasting career.

Pre-draft. Ginni's dad talks about him in the sense that he plays like Bruest, so you might be onto something there.
He definitely has to have the hard work to get to where he needs to go, and I do feel he has that. Hopefully this little challenge is a wake up call, and he puts in double the work in the off season.
He has the ability to be as good as he wants to be, just needs to work hard to achieve it.

Breust is quicker, more elusive and has had better endurance.

If Ginnivan had his physical traits he gets drafted.

Unfortunately Ginnivan is a small forward who has the speed and agility of a guy 20cm taller. He would've been a star 30 years ago.

I have. He has looked better than in the last few years. And its tough in a team like that.
Stevo would have more goals than that if he was playing for us this season.
Pity.
Expecting Ginni to improve.
Milne is the player I compare him too.
Another pre season. Still just a kid.

Don't think we'll start to see his best for a few more years, once he grows up with more pre-seasons. He was still a teenager 6 months ago.
I know it feels like he has been around forever, but he too was impacted by a covid hit 2020, so his development just like Macrae and Reef is probably a couple seasons behind most third years.

Stevie Milne was very quick. You've got to go back to the 90s to find brilliant forward pockets who couldn't run. Menzel post injuriies is the only recent one and he got delisted whilst having 2 goals a game seasons.

To me he didn't look overly fast.
Evasive yes. Deadly kick yes.
Ginni ain't going nowhere. Good for 30+ goals per season

He just needs some time.

Have we all forgotten what happened at the start of the year?
This kid made a bad mistake, may be mixing with a crowd that’s not ideal for his footy, and went through an invasion of privacy and trial by media to the level normally reserved for Kanye West.

And that’s after getting his head routinely ripped off as sanctioned by the AFL, in an era where every other tackle involving the head generates a 3 week suspension and a million clicks!

Give him support and we’ll be cheering him blowing up opposition supporters minds soon enough.

I remember Dids at Williamstown was a class above.

I'd like an example of someone who played better at AFL than VFL. You hear it thrown around a bit, but it's just an excuse for someone having a quiet game in the VFL.

harvey harrison is in the team...depending on how you appraise it, ginnivan should be able to replace him in the short term

Rather replace them both with Beau.
