for me the rumours are neither here nor there, I think the club in protecting Jack have really done him a disservice. He went from being named to play to being managed. The fact he is playing vfl now tells us he was dropped which the club should just state.

They paid him a lot of physical attention off the ball, not Nick Daicos extent, but were told to pay him close attention. Saw them try to rough him up a few times.
I know the kid who was on him ( good match up, similar heights and ages, had a chat to him post game), he had a few different opponents throughout the game he said.

Hopefully he builds on this and gets on the scoreboard a little more v frankston. Did a lot of nice pressure things.

For all the chatter, it's obvious the coaching staff don't rate Jack as a best 22 player this year, which is a concern for a 3rd year player. I assume he's contracted for next year, so will get more chances but has to improve his contested work and defensive efforts to make it.
Agree. If Jack was switched on he would have seen that Hill is healthy competition. He would have buckled down and had a big pre-season.

I think last season now counts for zero and he has to fight for his spot like the majority of players. It might be a test to see how badly he wants to be an AFL footballer.

What else is he going to offer? Most other players in the team can play multiple positions.

Agree although he was below standard today of what is expected.

Yeah probably. I'm in the group that says good players play poorly in the VFL regularly.
Put DeGoey in there and he won't be the same player without stars helping him out.
Unless you are a top 1 or 2 VFL side.
Even then
Nah. JDG would tear the VFL to shreds. Tom Mitchell would have 50 possession games. Pendles would run rings around them and stand out like dogs balls, etc...

The ball movement is vastly different in VFL, and not a happy hunting ground for forwards.

I'd bet that Pendles would stand out and still get less possessions than in a AFL game.
Same as any star without the help from great teammates.

Did you watch it today? In McCartin, they had an AFL level player and he was well above everyone else on the ground.

Bucks played 1 game in the seconds - 3 Liston Trophy Votes. Its all about the attitude of the player, which is a bit of a worry with Ginny at the moment.

Ginnivan wouldn't be the first career to race out of the blocks as he did only to fade away.
No, but lets hope its just his "second" year blues. He's focus in the off-season needs to be to get fitter and raring to go day 1 of pre-season. Still young so he has time.. I'd be very interested to know what the long term plan is for him, is it purely as a forward, or do they want to add some midfield craft into him? Next pre-season or the following will be interesting.

You know my love for Ginni, but surely he’s a pure forward? His deficiencies (as well documented on here…) would at face value make it difficult for him to succeed in another position. His best footy is close to the goals.

In my view, his only long-term deficiency is pace. There are more one paced mids than one paced small forwards - I can only think of one small forward who isn't very fast - let alone Ginni paced. I think he's got more chance of a sustained career up the ground - but going to take some development - and a mindset switch.

I know. He is a pure forward, I just wonder whether the coaches think if he works on his weaknesses he can add uo to play further up the ground. I do he is best suited to I50 though. But he has qualities that can suit further up the field. He's not a finished product by a mile, so it'll be a watch to see what they do with him
