Rather replace them both with Beau.

well thats true...but ginnivan should be able to get himself to the level where he would be playing now. I have to admit that I cant see a way for him to make it, unless he suddenly finds a tank or a lot of muscle. Having said that, he has some abilities that make him a finals player. One thing is for sure, he has to maximize himself. He can't waste time snorting powders and acting like a teenager.

I'd like an example of someone who played better at AFL than VFL. You hear it thrown around a bit, but it's just an excuse for someone having a quiet game in the VFL.

Darcy Moore. Was pretty average at VFL before his debut. Had a 3 mark 3 possession game from memory, and his earlier games weren't much better.

Bold call: I think for one or more reasons ginnivan is on the outer … and after several weeks in the VFL he will be open to being traded later in the year

- The situation gives me Henry vibes. The club makes a call on a player and despite their talent they sit in the twos

- Harrison seems preferred for his pace, run and ability to play multiple roles

- Hill seems preferred because of goal nous AND pace, athleticism

- McReery preferred because of his pace, pressure, tackling, midfield compatibility

- Elliot is rightfully incumbent

- ginnivan has excellent goal nous but (at this point) nothing else and is not a player that can be played in other positions, is slowish, can’t contribute greatly in other ways like tackles inside 50 etc

- pace, run, pace, run, pace… compliments the McRae game plan. Not a strength of Jack’s

- Collingwood currently only has two picks inside the first two rounds and nothing else til pick 70

Wright and co have shown they are prepared to lose a player in order to gain the currency to land other players

Ginnivan contracted til 2024… but we know contracts mean diddly all these days

- if ginnivan stays in the twos… other clubs will ask the question and dangle the carrot of weekly games, better money etc

Gone from Anzac Medals and champagne toasts to Coke in the toilets and a slot in the VFL -in the space of just two and a bit seasons. Might just have gone from launching his career to playing for it at Collingwood over the same journey. Definitely has smarts and skills, does lack pace and chase. Needs to get his head down and win his slot back, do the hard work, and hopefully the magic will come.

For sure. Head down and put in the work. Footy is a tough caper, always with its challenges. He just has to keep working hard, and improving and the rest will come. I always say, talent gets you in the door; but hard work, resillence and dedication will be what makes you succeed, or doesn't.
Hasn't had the year he would have hoped for, but plenty of upside to come if he keeps working at it.

Eh? Ginnivan is a great kick both in field and at goal at afl level, or are saying in the vfl as a mid he's sloppy?
He can be a great field kick. But watch how often he doesn't take a step but just pivots and does a sloppy kick on the turn. Too often he doesn't wheel around and hit it to his teammate.

Ginni will be back better than ever. His game on the weekend seemed to based completely on defence. As if he was told to specifically work on it. I think I heard somewhere that fly was very happy with his game even though it might not have looked that way

Saw Fly and leppa chatting to him at 3 QT, all quite positive. But yes, I agree.. this little stint seems to be defensive focused.

The negativity towards one of our young players going through a period of poor form is quite disheartening. As if he didn't cop enough from the umpires, media, commentators & oppo supporters last year when he had a break out season.. without now having so many of our own supporters now turning on him. And to make it worse, some seem to even be enjoying it.

You think you heard? As in, it might've been a dream?
