My initial reaction was that all people are different and have different ways of coping with stress. It could have led to an unfortunate incident, but so could riding a scooter to a mate's place, or going to the cinema.

Lots of players make mistakes; Sidebottom made a shocker during the COVID years and Jamie Elliott was arrested for urinating into a wheelie bin in Fitzroy a few years back. I suppose the issue is, does the player consistently make poor off field decisions that may endanger themselves or bring the club into disrepute?

Ginni seems to walk the tightrope. Hopefully he learns to make better decisions moving forward, but the signs are not all that good are they?

I forgot about Jamie pissing in the wheelie bin

Thanks for the reminiscence !

You're comparing blokes getting arrested with someone going to the races.

Is the kerfuffle all some anti-gambling moral crusade or is there a reason why going to the races is innately worse preparation than going out to a busy restaurant the night before a game.

Best prep would be to stay home.

He said he was so nervous. Sometimes staying home and it gettting it in your head is worse than doing something that will relax you.
And it takes a lot for Jack to get nervous.

Yep, it's because the races are associated with massive days on the piss so the 'optics' of him being in that particular setting aren't great, even though he was sober.

There likely wouldn't be this beat up if he was spotted having a quiet phó at an unlicensed vietnamese restaurant in Moonee Ponds.

He should have gone to Laksa King in Flemington. Gold.

Given that Ginni is a Cox Plate ambassador, it's seems more about the horses for him than it is about gambling.

Unless it's an upmarket joint, I'd be concerned about the impact of MSG on performance.

What actually is wrong with that walk involving friends and horses?
I can’t say I’ve lost too much sleep over it. Expect he’ll make a different choice next time.

hahaha
Reckon a lot of players are in the afl.

Better to have that as a passion, than.. something else that'll get you in a lot more trouble.
Racing gets people into trouble Jen. Hopefully Gin has it under control.

If you are a big punter yes, but if you just know your limits and are there for the love of the horses, and specific horses; reckon its a bit different.
Just gotta trust he knows what he is doing.
