I was wanting him back in the team for the finals and glad he became part of it. I can see Fly‘s frustration , only would take one hero to cause a scuffle which would be all over the news on GF morning. Thankfully this did not happen. As for his future as it stands now I have doubts he will be at the club beyond next year. He is no JDG so won’t get many more chances if he doesn’t become more professional which Fly would be wanting.

I think it’s clear Fly wasn’t overly pleased and this doesn’t quite live up to his expectation of “acting like winners”.

It’s a bit of a ridiculous hypothetical- but imagine if you heard that all 23 were at the races the night before!?! For me that’s the test as to whether it’s really appropriate or not.

I hope he learns from it, has an unbelievable pre season and becomes a 200 game 400 goal multiple premiership winning Collingwood legend.

It seems a bit at odds with the pretty pronounced anti-gambling (or at least advertising thereof) stance some of our club leaders have taken
Many of the boys goes to the races during the carnival.
Josh Daicos partnered with Caulfield last year to promote the event.

I think horse racing is a tad different from sports betting.

I think several of our small forwards (McCreery and Hill in particular) are destined to move further away from goal as they develop
I would have thought Ginni is more likely. In any case they move into the middle the midfielders rest forward. We’ve seen Tay, Degoey, Daicos, Sidey forward…they are equally capable.

Yup he could too given he said he will be aiming to play some defensive mid time as he develops his game next year like during those sub games.

I think you're missing the point.

The club doesn't micromanage what players do on game eve. That's the player's time. And the best preparation isn't one size fits all. Some players would be better off getting out and about as staying home would result in them not being able to switch off and thus stressing or over-thinking the game ahead.

No one would give a flying **** if it was Steele at the races, and Steele like all of them would be encouraged to go out if he felt it benefitted his footy.

Ginnivan and Jordy are in a different boat as they have to work out what's best for them but also factor in the media circus that they attract.

Ginnivan should build his tank and his core strength and then play as our designated tagger. Can you imagine a more annoying player to play on?
He would be like some horror hybrid of Kane Cornes & Hayden Ballantyne

hahaha imagine.
They already hate him now. This would increase his pest-ness lol

It definitely should be our go to tactic just before finals. If we're playing a top team, unleash Ginni to cause their best player to get suspended and miss the finals.

With respect sr36, imo that's not right.

There would be a level of disappointment with anyone at the races on GF eve. I've seen plenty of blues at the Valley over the years so why would you put yourself in that situation?

Fair point - but have the blues involved a sober party?

Could be wrong, but I don't get the impression that Jack is a getting into punch ons risk.

He said in his post-match interview with Pussy Roberts that he wants to build his tank and become a defensive mid.
Who is Pussy Roberts? I googled it and just got videos claiming to be footage of Julia Roberts's vagina.

They can say what they want, but at the end of the day he is a 20 year old Premiership player, Anzac Day medalist who's kicked 40 goals in a season
And worked his way through challenges this year to become that premiership player. He has a strong work ethic, and will only improve.
Whoever thought he would have a medal around his neck mid season. He has come a loing way since then.
