Toast Jack Gunston

I think he is underrated by our own sometimes. Especially in the big fish thread when discussing Lynch. We don't need Lynch, if we play gunston as our main key forward he will contest for the Coleman for years to come. If every bit as good as any other forward in the game, bar buddy who is on another level. Gunston doesn't have to be a "third tall" he become the 2nd tall when buddy left nd will be the 1st now that we need to move on from Roughead.

Nash, Lewis and Shoenmakers to provide support for a gunston lead forward line with Burton and Sicily to move forward if we need more star power.

Gunston is a freak and I love him but he's different to Lynch, Gunners isn't your 195cm 100KG key position forward.

Most of the 195cm 100kg forwards are liabilities when it hits the deck. Reiwoltd has carried Richmond for 10 years and is no bigger than gunners.

Lewis and shoenmakers are that size so they can crash the packs.

I've yet to meet a true Hawk supporter who has underrated Jack Gunston, by others perhaps but not by us that's for sure. Jack has a unique set of skills that makes him a joy to watch. He has great vision and awareness. Sublime on field kick and an accurate set shot. Super reliable mark of the ball, even with an opponent hanging off him. Also our best shot kicking from the boundary, guy is a calculated freak. Big finals player with a proven track record. Intelligent and deliberate with his kicks. Like Burgoyne, super safe. If it's the dying stages of the game you want it in the hands of Jack or Burgoyne. The man swings both ways, limitless. An absolute certified gun footballer.

Underrated by those who haven't watched him play I'm guessing. Gunston could walk into any team in the league. If you disagree, you're an idiot (not you personally, to the doubters). I agree with you in that we don't necessarily need Lynch but it would be handy to have that big body type to allow Gunners to express himself.

In conclusion, I wouldn't swap Gunston for any key forward in the league. Or backman. He is just that good.

You know what doesn’t seem to be getting enough coverage.

I’ve noticed in the last month that at least twice he’s been mentioned for covering the most km’s in a game.

If I’m not mistaken about that, can you believe it? On top of everything else he does he is also running farther than anyone else across the ground? Just wow!

Agreed they are, that's what makes players like Tom Lynch so crucial, his agility and endurance to go along with the size and strength.

I think he could be good enough as a key forward, but does that not seem like a waste of his talent to you? He's so versatile that throwing him up forward with no scope to go anywhere else on the field is limiting the impact he can have on a game. He's great how he is, being able to go forward and kick 4, go to the backline and take saving marks or play on the wing and get 25-30 touches.

He only played well because of mitchell and hodge. He is playing down back because he cant get the ball in the forward line. He was never any good.

I remember a former captain going back late in the season to win us a premiership. What a star. In the clarkson mould can play anywhere and providing strong leadership. We are lucky as hawthorn supporters

It's amazing how much ground he and Smith and Mitchell cover every week with such high game time as well

One of the biggest compliments I think you can give him would be his football smarts would be near Sam Mitchell level smarts. Not quite there, but certainly not too far off.
He does so many little things that can go unnoticed he is an absolute star and am glad he's ours for the foreseeable future.

It’s amazing.

If I have heard correctly I am sure they said in two games lately Gunston covered the most ground at 15km’s or something.
Last four games

I thought his game against the saints was the most dominant performance from a hawthorn player this season. We kicked 12 goals and I reckon he had a hand in 9 of them.
He is the complete footballer and a nightmare to play against

Kicked 5 from 24 touches and 8 marks v the Dons a few weeks ago. Absolutely destroyed em.
