Who knows but in my opinion it has to be something the club needs, they are likely to have picks 1,2,14 and whatever they get for Achee so a second rounder is worthless as is a future 2nd as it is likely to be in the late 20’s or even later with the FS and academy picks

He’s not worth pick 8 so that is unlikely unless something significant comes back your way. I am wondering if this is the delay in him nominating, as the clubs and his manager would want to ensure a deal can be done before announcing

It's exactly why it is being delayed, as both clubs have other items to deal with, just like every other club and why no other player has nominated a club of choice

This thread is an absolute scream...all the posturing and chest puffing.

No one has any idea what the clubs value Martin at.

If the stars align a deal will get done to get him to Carlton. SOS was prepared to pay overs to get McGovern through the door and did the same with Setterfield.

Can see him offering GCS's a deal good enough to get him over. May take time for the pieces to come together though, as I feel Papley is the priority.

I am OK with under, but not mid second and casboult. Early second still acceptable without casboult , but if you can't get papley over the line, I don't see the point of accepting early second because kids in top 10 is a lot better than GCS Brisbane pick 15. GCS will give you time to solve the Papley trade but can't just sat there and wait forever. I think Martin manager also try to finalised the deal especially if Carlton rated Papley ahead of him, they need contingency plan also.

What Martin is worth has no bearing on any other deal

Factually? Is that like other media reports that Jack Martin will nominate Carlton? The whole of the football world knows that Hill and Martin's desires of which clubs they wish to be at next year
Uh no.. unlike Martin, Jill's manager confirmed he chose them in July. Hence factual

Your comprehension needs some work.

Again, his manager NAMED the saints as where he wants to be. He said that decision was made 2 months ago

You have adulation with Martin

His manager was never "quoted" and Young loves negotiating through the media. We all know Hill wants to get to the Saints, especially with the contract that has been offered. Martin will also get to Carlton, it is as simple as that. Other players have strongly been linked to other clubs, rather than just returning or heading to a desired location, even without a so called "nomination"

Easy to comprehend isn't it?

Now, rather than all the back and forth, what do you see as a fair value for Martin, I suggested 20-26

*Puffs chest* Fite me bruh

I didn't think Setters was overs. McGovern was about right for a contracted player. He's just had a poor year in reflection.

A good deal will be offered and I predict it will be a second rounder, but a better one, sourced through another trade.

Agree with you that Papley is the club's priority right now and no other signicant deals will be signed off on until we know his decision.

I wouldn't trade Casboult, he is a handy, cheap back up in a number of roles. You won't get Gibbons either

IMHO, it will be purely based on draft picks
Well I might not agree, but hopefully they get somebody in the state league capable of playing AFL with that pick 20-25.

Think you can argue that McGovern was slight overs given his output last season, but I think it was worth it in the long run, if he can keep his weight and fitness under control

Casboult on this year’s form is a great acquisition and I’d be sad to see him go. Casboult on his form pre 2019 is better than steak knives but by a small margin
Why not keep him, just not rookie wages. I think casboult rookie list, VFL represent Tassie 2021 good protection for VFL kids.

If you’re worried about your club doing something stupid maybe raise it on your team board rather than telling Suns fans they MUST accept SFA for him

Off subject, why has he not nominated if the choice was made, the rumour is a week or so old.
No one is telling you to accept SFA for him, a 2nd rounder will 100% be worth more then anything he has done in his career to date.

8 + Future 2nd + Macreadie for Papley + 23.

23 for Martin.

Done and done.
