Jack reads the flight incredibly well, his body work is fantastic, kicks more goals (2.14 per game for nick, 2.44 pg for jack), and I think it's fair to say he's played deeper than Nick over his career.

Nick roamed more. He averaged 8.76 marks per game (holds the record for most marks of all time), while Jack is at 5.61 per game. A big part of that is because Nick was always providing an option due to his elite tank. Nick also took more contested marks than Jack (1.92 per game for nick to 1.65 per game for jack), and also has taken the most contested marks of all time.

Jack always seems to play very well against us, so I respect him. He's one of those players, ala buddy, where it feels like a matter of 'when' not 'if'.

Nick was just a machine. At 34 years of age, in the last game of a long year, on one leg, you'd excuse him for not giving 100%. But he was just a maniac, 24 kicks, 2 handballs, 21 marks, 9 goals. Obviously that was one of his best games, but it just shows what a true pro he was, and a he played the CHF role as good as any in the modern era.

anyway, im a st kilda supporter so obviously prone to nostalgia given our current predicament is.. yeah.

paddy had 7 marks and kicked 2 goals today in a jlt! ...

The premiership and Coleman medals do look good next to Jack's name. But, I suppose Nick would be the preferred option for most clubs as we have hindsight.

Both extraordinary clubmen.

I'd suggest you're somewhat biased on this situation dude.

Jack is a fantastic footballer, but he isn't a lock for hall of fame. Nick is a lock for it and is probably top 5 of his generation.
3 Colemans (chance for more) probably gets him in. Only 13 players in history have won 3 or more, and a number of them were from way back before the elite professional era.

Add to that atleast 1x premiership, 3xAA and probably 750+ goals by the time he retires and Jack will be making the hall of fame, no doubt. At least he should be with that career.

You're right, he probably deserves and will make hall of fame. However, he is still not in the same level as Nick. He is right there with Judd, Ablett, Pavlich, Hodge and Buddy as the players of their generation.

I agree Nick's ahead, and it's very likely to remain that way, would take years more of top form for Jack to catch up. Not likely to maintain that.
However, Jack certainly has him in some areas, and both are greats in their own right.

When Jack is done, he will be a HoF along with Rance and Martin. And as i said in my very first post, you can’t lose with either footballer. Both dead set guns.

No slight on jack who is a very good player but nick is the better player out of the two

Assuming you have Franklin as 1, are you really rating them above Fevola, Lloyd, Richardson, Tredders, and Pavlich to name a few?
I definitely have Nick above all of them.

Lloyd, Brown and Pavlich are 3, 4 and 5.

I was in that camp comfortably, until last season. Jack was enormous last year and there was a patch where he was unstoppable. If he finishes his career with a few more seasons like that who knows. Still Nick has set the bar really high.

As good as jack was I still rate nicks 04-05 and 09/10 seasons as better individual seasons

Regardless of this poll, it seems we have another who severely overrated Jono Brown. His 3 year purple patch was amazing, but he lacks the consistent longevity of the others.

Outside of that he didnt put together consistent great seasons, and yes injuries were a huge part of that, but part of being considered an all time great player is actually playing.

Even Jack for example has more Colemans, more AAs, and more goals, from less games... still with plenty of career to go.
Jono Brown kicked over 50 goals 4 seasons in his career. Riewoldt has already done it 8 times.

This is very accurate.

Jack, imo, a much smarter player.

I never thought Nick was a damaging as he could be a lot of the time. Great stats, but a lot up the ground where he was never going to hurt you as much.

I (sadly) agree. His peak was up there in about as good as it gets but it was way too short. He is a club legend but not quite at the level of a few others who did it for a much longer time period.

Injuries cruelled him no doubt. His peak was amazing though, and had of he done it for more full seasons hed be right up there.

I just cant rate someone as highly as those who proved it over longer.

Honestly mate/ma’m, enough’s enough. Every thread you start and every post you make is just Richmond propaganda, from having a whinge about people not agreeing that Rance is the best Full back of all time to this rubbish thread. Honestly it’s like comparing Wayne Carey to Matthew Lloyd or Matty Richardson. No contest. Nick is a once in a generation player, playing the hardest position on the ground at an elite level for an incredibly long period of time, one of the best leaders of his generation as well. Get off your high horse, I don’t care if Jack wins 10 Colemans, still no match for Nick as an all around footballer.

Thanks for the reply bro, I don't see the problem with this thread you need to chill out. There is a list of achievements and a poll, Nick won the poll easily what's the problem?

If Jack continues for another 5 years performing at the same or similar level as he is now, as Nick did, it'll be close.
