Jack Watts

dont know why a lot of people are saying how crap he was on his first game his side lost by 66 points. Anyway i think he will be a very good player in the near future well done dees:thumbsu:

The sad fact is that the O.P is likely to be twice the age of Jack Watts and is the one sitting back on his holiday from his weekday labouring job, whereas today, Watts begun what looks like a very promising career. Do Carltank actually remember what a young KPF looks like?
I assume you are retired at 25 to be giving jaunts of that nature

I know I'm asking myself the same question. Fair enough it was his first match but you would expect a number 1 draft pick to do a bit more. Can't wait to see pears vs watts

Nick Riewoldt on debut: 3 posessions, 1 behind
Lance Franklin on debut: 6 posessions, no score
Jack Watts on debut: 8 posessions, 1 behind

Hey Brent Prismall#9, for your information here are the #1 pick debuts of recent times:

Let's look at the debuts of all no. 1's since 2000:

2000 Nick Riewoldt - rnd 15 3 disposals no goals

2001 Luke Hodge - rnd 5 13 disposals no goals

2002 Brendan Goddard rnd 4 11 disposals 1 goal

2003 Adam Cooney rnd 1 8 disposals 1 goal

2004 Brett Deledio rnd 1 9 disposals no goals

2005 Marc Murphy rnd 1 17 disposals 1 goal

2006 Bryce Gibbs rnd 1 11 disposals 1 goal

2007 Matthew Kreuzer rnd 3 16 disposals 2 goals

I'll throw in Justin Koschitzki (pick 2) rnd 3 5 disposals no goals

Just for your information.

What about Maxlol bumping up against Watts behind the play? Is he hoping some talent will rub off onto him or something.
I lol'd.

This thread is a disgrace. Very very few players look up to speed in their first game.

And Melbourne fans, to keep your chins up, remember Leigh Brown was much much better than the Pav was in their first year (same year). :)

He has a good head, great athleticism, good skills. The three most important things as a young KPP, because as he puts on weight, he'll use the extra weight he can carry as result of his natural athlericism, to dominate.

Re: There is no way Chris Yarran is as bad as Jack Watts.

Watts will be a better player than Neitz & G Lyon by the end of his career IMO. I wouldn't expect too much from him for 3 or 4 years though. But by the time he's 22 and has put on a bit of weight and has 50 games behind him, I would think he will be one of the top 5 players in the AFL on talent alone.

Just an opinion, might not happen*

If we had a chance to take him @ pick 6 in the draft I would have been stoked.

You're avatar is the freakiest thing I've set eyes on since first seeing Tim Curry in "It".

Scariest thing for me was the fact that he looked like he was running on a treadmill. Not what you want from a KPF.

Especially one with no bulk, whats going to happen when he bulks up.

I'm happy to call it now. Jack Watts will be a spud.

OMG... you're not embarrassed yet? Not even when fans of damn near every other AFL club have strongly disagreed with you...?

Whats to be embarassed about, I havent been proven incorrect have I?

If Watts becomes anything other than an average player I'll be the first to congradulate him. But Frankly, his pissweak display leaves me quietly confident about my prediction.

Didnt get to see the game but he will be star watched a lot of him recently and dont worry Dees u got a superstar on your hands and by the way did the saints drop Nick Riewoldt after his first game??

Pretty sure they didn't, though Nick did injure himself in his first season, missed enough of that year to still be eligible for the Rising Star the next (which he won of course). No poor reflection on Jack though, it's hard to remember a better display from a young tall than Riewoldt's second season (Saints B&F winner too).

Ah, speaking of failed number 1 draft picks. Deledio. All the physical attributes, no geniuine football smarts.

From one hack to another. Watts to Deledio :)

Your calling Watts a spud after one game when your high draft pick can't even get a run in what is an average side to say the least and if he is anything like masten your onto a certain winner there  What is it exactly that woosha is saving him for

FWIW nothing can be taken out of todays game as shown by previous debut performances by current stars of the game. Cooney is a prime example - current brownlow medalist with similar stats to Watts.

If you're talking about Naitanui then you really should do some research, Naita had surgery on an injured knee, his recovery was good, held back by some hamstring soreness. The club then announced he would spend a month in the WAFL to gain some run in the legs. That was a month ago, he will play against the tigs.

See, this is bullshit. I can watch someone play for 15 minutes and take something away from it. It's called intent. Jack Watts had **** all and pranced around like a little 10 year girl performing at a school play.

You cant teach courage, you cant coach intent, he has neither and he may have all the physical attributes in the world, but if he hasnt got intent and some courage they dont count for shit.

See Brett Deledio :thumbsu:

Brett Deledio is better then any West Coast player. Try again.

So Dean Cox should just hand back those 4 or is 5 consecutive AA jumpers?

Brett Deledio is no better than Des Headland, a front running marshmallow. :thumbsu:

How about you try again, keep believing the hype over your number one pick, I have stated why he will be a spud, time will tell if Im wrong.

But like I said, you cant teach someone to be courageous and you cant give a bloke some intent. He is a soft fairy, a few kilos aint going to change that.

Dean Cox has 4-5 AA jumpers because theres minimal competition in that department. I'm not knocking him.. just that theres no one else in the ruck position who is as mobile and possesses that amount of skill. Can't think of anyone else can ya? Brett Deledio is competing with a hundreds of midfielders out there for a spot on the AA team.

That said, I was also unimpressed with Jack Watts debut. Needs to get his shorts dirty at least. I hope he proves me wrong.

This thread is pathetic.

if you wanna judge a player by their debut game, then lets take a look -

Lance Franklin is a hack.
Nick Riewoldt is a spud.
Adam Cooney is rubbish.
Justin Koschitze is woeful.
Gary Ablett Jnr is laughable.

Andrew Walker is a god.
Dean Polo is a freak.
Brad Dalziell walks on water.
Mark McGough is a hall of famer.
