Don't understand this at all. GWS let Hopper and Taranto go instead of others because they had too many inside mids and wanted to balance the list. Why would they bring in another older inside mid? Doesn't make sense at all.
Because the deal they were looking at doing with the Hawks would involved Hawthorn paying all his salary. So he is free to GWS in salary cap space. Which is different to both Hopper and Taranto

The onus is on the lions to get Dunkley deal done before you'd look at another mid me thinks.
Yeh maybe. I'm not too fussed either way with Dunkley. Not saying he isn't a great get. Just don't want it to cost us our academy boys.

Freo fans will be changing their tune on Jaeger in 3.... 2...

Sensible choice for Jaeger. He'll fit right into their midfield and finally gets to have a crack at a flag.

Going to another rebuilding club in GWS was a strange call.

21 is fair for me of Freo get it

It's almost as ridiculous as using Brownlow votes as the measuring stick between a ruckman and a midfielder but here we are.

I didn't - what's with the reading comprehension around here? I didn't compare the Brownlow votes between the players (Meek's Brownlow votes were never mentioned). I highlighted that O'Meara has more than 3 x as many BL votes as Meek has played games. In other words, O'Meara has been BOG more times than Meek has even been selected to play so it is not reasonable to suggest Meek is already the better player.

If you want me to phrase it differently, Meek is 24 (will be 25 within the first month of next season) and has never had a season where he has been selected more than not. He has never had 16 disposals or more at AFL level. He has never had 5 clearances in a game. He's never kicked multiple goals. He is over 200 cm and averages 0.6 of a contested mark per game. He's had 30 hit outs once so far. He's never been top 15 in the B&F and as far as I can tell, has never received a single coaches vote in his career.

How anyone can claim he is a better player already/now is beyond me (O'Meara had done more halfway through his first season as an 18 year old).

More likely to be centred around Meek than 21, if they do get it.

If its a straight swap for Meek I'll be disappointed. Dont get me wrong, I think Meek is a decent young player but OMeara has far more to offer our rebuilding midfield than a 3rd string ruckman

EDIT: just realised Meek is 24. Only 4 years younger than Jaeger. A straight swap is a terrible deal for Hawthorn

Depends on who is driving the move and who is paying the bulk of the salary.

Agree JOM is worth a fair bit more than Meek all things being equal.
